There's no 155lb belt; Saul Alvarez fought at contract weights, yet you want to call it a belt.

The Angulo, Lara, and Kirkland fights were at a 155 contract weight, and the Cotto and Khan fights were set without regard to the WBC belt.

With Golovkin being handed back his trinket, Alvarez will continue to fight his career at contract weights, until he feels the need to target a belt again.

    again, you played yourself.

Agreed, and I predict Kovalev upsetting Ward. I think from a style perspective it's just too darn similar to Kovalev/Hopkins especially with Ward's long layoff.

Because Alvarez, as he's stated since before the Cotto fight, and even well after the fight, is not a middleweight fighter, was open to fighting Golovkin, and the WBC deadline and Golovkin's camps foolish talk about belts needing to be fought for at 160, literally gave him no incentive to even keep doing the song/dance.

With the bull**** out of the way, Canelo Alvarez can continue with his career without the kabuki theater.

Alvarez will have his fight in September, and you should probably hope on hope that the Eubank Jr fight ends up happening; otherwise, get your lines ready to defend facing another can.

No one cares about David Lemieux; Gennady Golovkin is apparently supposed to be a star. If that actually were the case, after over three years of coddling, K2 was now in position to see what they had.

Once the decision was made to move Golovkin to PPV, that should've been the decision that K2 held itself to; Golovkin-Wade wasn't going to do any worse than Golovkin-Lemieux did, so K2 could've taken that momentum and used it to see what Golovkin's starpower really is.

Because 'Canelo' Alvarez does big numbers on his own; $7.5m at the gate for the Khan fight, over a $15m site fee to host Cotto-Alvarez, over 35k people in the building for Alvarez-Kirkland, etc.

to try and act as if Golovkin is supposedly going to move the needle is laughable.
Alvarez does big numbers, because he has a huge Mexican following. They latched on to him because Chavez, JR was such a huge disappointment. The discerning fan recognizes that Cinnamon's star power is actually a fluke: He's been making a name for himself fighting smaller guys & past-it guys, but they do have big names (Angulo, Kirkland, Cotto, Khan). His loss to Mayweather didn't hurt him much because the guy's undefeated. His decision to duck Golovkin may open the eyes of some fans to see what a fake Mexican fighter he really is.

Golovkin has been trying to raise his stock, but the big names duck him (Alvarez, Cotto, Quillen, Jacobs, ect.). Ward tried to make it look like Golovkin ducked him, but he actually turned down an offer from the GGG camp too. Once Gennady moves up, we'll see if he can get some big names to fight him.
I don't know how you think if Canelo & Golovkin fought, Canelo would be the sole reason for buys. If they fight, I know the buys would eclipse any previous Alvarez fight, except the Mayweather one, but I bet it would rival it. To say big numbers in that fight would have nothing to do with Golovkin's star power is ludicrous.

You fanboy ******s are the worst.

You complain that Canelo said he will fight Golovkin at 160.

And yet you forget that Hypekin ran around for FOUR YEARS saying that he can beat "anyone from 154-168"..... and yet he killed TWO huge fights over the weight LMAO

Canelo won't fight anyone at 160, but Hypekin was willing to fight EVERYONE at 168..... EXCEPT for Andre Ward

                    1) Canelo is not a middleweight

                    2) Stop crying..... and stop blaming Canelo because your loud-mouth girlfriend is not willing to be a man of her word

Ward is a lot better than a 50 yr old Bhop way sharper way faster and more aggressive , this old version of Bhop is what you would call a spoiler while Ward is on another level right now , and Kov is the fav so how would it be an upset if he won .

Its a very competitive fight that either guy can win , whoever is in the zone on the night will get the money and I will throw another spanner in the works nobody would deny that Kov can stop Ward but Ward could possibly stop Kov also .
