Still is bich. On a serious note he was a solid fighter and it's sad that he never won a world title after beating 5 or 6 "former" world champions. I'll be honest, the loss to Postol hurt me and I lost a bit of passion for watching boxing but I still box as an amateur and fights are starting to excite me again.
3 years ago Matthysse was god to you guys!

I thought he was good. I thought he would beat Danny. Bit Danny showed that Mathysse could be outboxed and you could break him down if you have a decent set of skills and chin like Danny does....Comment

No one gave a **** about Matthysse before the Judah fight, and most had no idea who he even was. Judah was his first 12 round fight. His performance in that fight and the Alexander robbery are the only reason anyone ever cared. He spent years fighting and beating world class competition before Garcia. Clearly he didn't get exposed against good competition every time.post of the day
as soon as Mattyssee fights the best in the division regularly his limitations were exposed...a lot of people forget a past prime Judah has a legit win over him too. He knocking out no names stiffs for the most part before they fought
the Matthyssee fans are the guys who were on the manny bandwagon until he got ktfo....then they went to the next best "exciting puncher"....he loses to Garcia...then they hopped to GGG......ITS PATHETIC
You're talking like he was hyped up going into the Judah fight and no one would admit he was worse than they thought. He earned his following. There is a reason Garcia beating him matters. The way most haters talk about Matthysse, Garcia should get no credit at all.Comment

Pacman bandwagon? More proven fighter than who? Manny? Maybe I didnt understood what u meant but I think comparing Matthysse to Pacman is kind of funny. Pacman is a proven ATG and nobody, except Floyd, has a better resume ( and even this one is debatable ).
Sorry if I didnt get ur post but...
To answer OP, Matthysse was never nothing other than power. Never really liked his style. Still an exciting fighter to watch but skill wise hes not that good.Comment

i pointed out Judah because he exposed some of his limitations...at the time, no one was high on Judah, but a past prime Judah beat him.....red flag....its not like he improved drastically since that fightNo one gave a **** about Matthysse before the Judah fight, and most had no idea who he even was. between Judah and garcia, the only world class fighters JUNIOR WELTERWEIGHT he fought was lamont peterson, who was a perennial contender. Humberto soto was world class @ 126-135...he was undersized at 140 and never beat anyone of note

He was severely overhyped and too big for his britches certainly but he is a good fighter.
I think if he fought Danny again he would win,it was a very close and competitive fight! The Postol fight was all wrong for him due to styles! He should've targeted Broner for the WBA belt at 140, I hope he stays at 140!
If he's not too worn torn he could beat some of the lower top guys there.Comment
