Hopkins went half a decade as a champion that was basically ignored and underappreciated by the boxing community. Then he went another 3-4yrs after he got his recognition with Tito waiting for a big money fight with Oscar.

GGG on the other hand has pretty much reached near the top of everyone's P4P lists by beating pretty much nobody. And he has a cushy HBO deal that pays him decent money to fight nobody. The motivation isn't the same.

Hopkins got his ass handed to him by Calzaghe though...

Hopkins stayed at Middleweight for a decade doing the same thing Triple G is doing now lol... and waits for smaller guys to move up and he should be recognized lol? 2. Cotto (we all saw his face)
3. Canelo (made Canelo create his own division to hide in)

If he'd done that as soon as he won it from Cotto there wouldn't be a problem. But he and Oscar thought they could have their cake and eat it at the same time. That never works.

Canelo-Khan had very little support within the hardcore boxing community. Which means pretty much everybody that ordered that fight was a diehard Canelo and/or casual fan. Casual fans don't care about belts. Canelo's dieharda are gonna be there regardless. The only people that cared about the belt were the GGG diehards and hardcore fight fans. All of whom didn't purchase Canelo's fight anyway. He lost nothing.
