Or possibly throwing back. Brook cracks pretty hard.
I really like this matchup. Vargas has improved over the years but he is still a rung below the elite. Brook looks like he belongs among the elite. I think the one thing that stands out with him, the quality I see in the very best, is that he knows how to win and will do whatever it takes to walk home with that W. Not in a dirty fighting way but in a cerebral way. I still question his chin but even then, that is a steep, steep climb that Vargas will undertake in September.Comment

Vargas is up against the wall. Porter was more aggressive, but Kell grabbed and won in the US. Kell isn't about to let Vargas get close without a hug. Kell will try to turn him with footwork, pop him when he rotates, then grab or move. He's not going to war. If Vargas gets lucky and lands something, Kell will go into graceful flight and collect the boxing points.Comment

Vargas was brought up trained by Cubans & they had him fighting off the backfoot throughout most his career. I think the added weight & the little bit of time he spent with Morales taught him how to sit down on a punch & sneak it in. Cooper also seems like a good coach that seen that & continued with that style. Its kinda good that Vargas got 2 different styles of training because he can box while moving forward & back but hes better coming forward. I have Vargas upsetting every1 & bringing that red strap back to the U.S.Comment

I never knew that??? That makes sense though. He went from a good/great defensive fighter to ****er but still keeps his slick skills...He might of lost to TB but he seems to of learned a LOT from fighting him.Vargas was brought up trained by Cubans & they had him fighting off the backfoot throughout most his career. The TB loss wasnt even as bad make it to be, sure he lost but it wasnt easy. I was/am a TB fan & I was rooting for him but Vargas won me over big time with the amount of heart he showed. He was being out punched but never gave up and won some exchanges. I had the fight 9-3 with 2 close rds. People also forget it was his first fight at ww, if it were "another" fighter theyd give him a pass... But yeah man i seen an interview back in the day & his cuban trainer said they basically trained him to take away his natural instinct of coming forward. Now they he comes forward he has underrated defense and skill, hes not slow and he has height & reach. Bad recipe for Brook. & idk what the odds r but i known they r against Vargas, maybe smart to throw a bill on the underdog.Comment
