I think clinching is just part of a boxer who does not wanna get hurt.

Imagine if Frietas go distance then he could have KOed Raheem and Raheem's boxing career when its already going bit on incline.

From what I have heard I think Friats deserve to win, I for one dont like people to clinch. More action less clinching and running is how to impress the judges

He can but as you mentioned his mind betrays him sometimes, but he's making progress on that. The problem with the Heavyweight division is that now you see these big guys that look like they were made by CAT to try and just knock everything down. Many of them have the strength to do so but that's all that goes for them. Wladimir is different, he's skilled, big, athletic and smart but he seems not to have that fighter fire other guys have and that's why I think he chooses to try to hold instead of fighting out of close situations. Although due to his height he could very well be also at a disadvantage since he would have to duck quite a bit for most fighters especially to punch to the body, which he rarely does. Still if Emmanuel were to help him out with that he'd become even more impressive and if he regains his confidence completely. He'll be unstoppable for a while. *KFC=Keeping Fingers Crossed*

i aggree with the first part of your post. but as foreman always says, a tall fighters needs not bend to the level of his fighter, i think so wlad can attach the body he has to start off throwing the jab, then jab, straight right then left hook to the liver, but wlad would have to remember to keep his right hand by his chin and keep balance but that combo would be a killer in his arsen of weapons.

emanuel should show wlad some sonny liston fights. i've seen some liston fights where liston throws awsome powerful jabs not just one put in combinations and wlad i belive if practiced on the jab can have a great jab but has to be confident

in my opinion clinching is not part of boxing but is a startigec startagy that keeps a hurt fighter from being ko'd, but raheem was more weary of getting hit rather then being hurt, at least that what it looked like to me

            Not always man.

Ali and Lewis liked to clinch in order to wear out their opponent.

Something Wlad likes to do now, and it's an acceptable tactic.

It depends man.....look at it this way.

Raheem was holding low every five seconds, and held on for dear life like Ruiz does.

Ali, Lewis, and Wladimir Klitscko all clinch(ed) really fast...and pull down on their opponent's neck. That's used as a tactic to wear your opponent out.

This whole discussion is difficult to assess....because it's really hard to tell if someone is hurt or not.

i understand what you are saying but i just don't like the idea of holding as a tactic though you are righ they used it as such but doesn't look good, i've seen some ali fight that prime ali wouldn't even need to hold cause prime ali still was in his prim

wlad clinching tactic have improved but his clinching technique is very dangerous in my opinion

if you scored it 7 rounds to 5 for Raheem, how can you call it a robbery? You have to win at least 8 rounds before you can call robbery.

                      Yeah it is.

But see....this is a perception error man. (not on your behalf)

I'm saying in general. Because many people believe his style of clinching is to avoid getting hit by shots. I don't buy it.

I don't see the problem with his chin like everyone else does. Sure he has been stopped...where he ran out of gas and collapsed from fatigue...and sure he's been cold ****ed:

But just about everyone else has....LOL.

Ali had a great chin, but he liked to clinch to wear guys out. Lewis had a "suspect" chin...even then I don't really buy into that....because he's been hit plenty of times by big punchers and it didin't even phase him. Much like Wladimir has.

Raheem's clinching was a strange tactic that I think enabled him to win the fight against Freitas...although he was robbed IMO.

Oh and Ruiz started his bull**** right after Tua KTFO him in 20 seconds of the first round in their fight.
