    So it's now the conduct of the other team? Are you just running through every excuse you can think of?

    Too much risk, not enough reward. That's what only for big fights/a-siders actually means. Ward was too good for them.

      Well no doubt ******, conceding 10lbs+ fight night to a p4per is risky, that's why you hardly ever see it happen. Sometimes it happens when the bigger guy brings the money and smaller guy is selling out. Obviously not the case here, Ward was irrelevant last year, let's see if he can regain some relevance by end of year, 2 years into his promotional deal

        Ward's at LHW.

        Because Golovkin ran him out of the SMW division.

          He doesn't need to move up in the sense of winning titles and accolades or being considered great. But if he wants that big fight he would probably have to. It's not fair but that's the way it is.

              You really twisted that into something else.
              There's no twisting. The dude specifically said he didn't want G to risk getting beat. How is that not what he said?

              It's an ignorant comparison.

              Nobody questioned whether Roy Jones could fight and potentially beat Mike Tyson when the rumors were going around about that fight. Roy Jones was the best at his craft at that time, Tyson was a KO artist where everyone questioned whether he could go the distance.

              Jones didn't whine about a bigger John Ruiz, or a bigger James Toney. He went out there and got the business done. That's all people are asking of G.

              With Floyd, it simply makes no sense.

              He went up to face De La Hoya because Oscar was the A side and demanded it - and Floyd knew that was a career defining victory were he to win. He did what was necessary. It wasn't easy, as shown by the SD rather than a UD and no rematch.

              G is the B side against Floyd - thus, if G wants to face Floyd he'd have to go to 147. But the thing is, G is not pulling multi millions. Floyd isn't facing anyone who won't make him at least as much money as he's made in the past. G is the one who needs the notoriety AND the payday. G is the one in Floyd's position against De La Hoya. He needs a big win and he needs to do whatever is required to get it - OR, move up and get it that way.

              That's what you guys don't get. It's not the same situation because G is nowhere near the same draw as Mayweather was even then. G is avoiding risky fights and wanting to call the shots. He can't yet.

              Before 2009, Floyd took risky fight after risky fight to get to the top; Pacquiao took risky fight after risky fight (and took losses) to get to the top; Ward stood out in the Super Six; Hopkins was still taking risks all the way up until the Kovalev schooling; Calzaghe took numerous risks (some of which he should have lost, but that's besides the point); Toney took risks in boxing and MMA;

              Risk is part of the game. You MUST take risks and you must take tough fights to get any credibility. You've got to bow down to A-sides and do what they're telling you so that you can one day become the A-side. That is how it works.

              If what you're saying is you're fine with G being one of those niche players that only boxing purists know and care about, like Kevin Kelly, that's fine. I'd rather see if even at his advanced age he's capable of greatness, because we do need a true KO artist at the top besides Wilder.
