Just a fact. Just watch his fight in the studio with Joe Frazier. Frazier stands in front of him and Ali tells him to sit down because his nation of islam members are in the studio. When Frazier then is distracted by one of the brothers, Ali stands up and attacks him. Like the coward he was. His own people admit they fought Frazier a 3rd time out of cowardice, Joe was shot by that time, won only 5 of the last 10 fights of his career.

He won cause of hype, he won cause of cheating, he won because he threatened and accused judges. He painted every judge who chose against him in the first Frazier as a racist. Bill Recht once said that his wife was punched and he was attacked as a racist after picking Frazier. What judge would pick against Ali knowing he would pretty much tell Nation of Islam members and blacks to attack them?

He was consistently allowed to hold behind peoples heads, rabbit punch, and push. People say the Klitschko's clinch? Yeah...ok...Ali clinches at least twice as much.

Everyone knew the refs were crooked and allowed Ali to do this trash. The guy was a bum. Lost to Frazier 1, shoulda been dqed in Frazier 2, beat a wached up bum in Frazier 3. Lost all 3 Norton fights. Lost to Shavers and Young. Ali shows how Bum+Hype+Nations of Islam could make idiots think someone was the "greatest."

The 4 year "prime" layoff was a joke. First of all another example of cowardice. Second no one knows what would have happened during that time, that tiem off allowed the brain damage that Cooper laid on him to not be exposed as soon, also made him gain weight which helped his glass chin out.

    The guy was a joke.
Why are you repeating this crap post in every thread?

          more iconic?

it is not close. it's ali.

i think you can argue the resumes, because ali's got a f#cking staggering record. two losses while he was what i call "at or around his best." basically had two careers. basically untouchable in the 60's, and a genuine, all time talent. maybe the most talented athlete ever. in the 70's he slowed a step, and then another, and then another, and he still went down as the best fighter in the best ever era at HW, boxing's glamor division.

ali's resume doesn't even look real. have a loot at it for yourself. it is just staggering. boxers shouldn't have to do that. they don't do it now, and they won't be doing it in the future. you don't need to do that to your body.

Ray robinson is the best p4p

Johnson dempsey and pep and joe louis were the first superstars in boxing in america took boxing mainstream by radio and newspaper

Ray robinson became a superstar and took boxing to a higher place mainstream world wide with live fights on radio and television.

Ali took boxing to even higher place mainstream world wide on television along with his charisma and political ways during segregation

This has nothing to do with media coverage. Who is more iconic? That is the topic. You talk about "lost". Hahaha, that's ironic. You don't even know what the topic of this thread is. IF this and IF that .....IF isn't reality. IF Manny Pacquaio KO'd Mayweather back in 2010 he would be considered the greatest of all time. IF IF IF........

The question that the OP of this thread is asking IS - Who is the bigger icon in boxing history ALI or SRR? The question IS NOT - Who do you think was the greater fighter?
SRR was great but how can he be considered anywhere near the iconic status of Ali? I'm not the biggest Mohammed Ali fan....he had his flaws too BUT he is easily THE most iconic boxer and sports figure in history.
