I agree Golovkin didn't want to fight Ward, but it's insane to believe Ward really wanted to fight Golovkin either. Ward sounds and acts like a man who doesn't want to fight anymore - period.

Ward was asking Golovkin to sign a contract agreeing to move up to 168 for him after he'd finished his tune-ups.

Golovkin already had a contract with Cotto/Canelo, and the WBC covering the same period. Loeffler told Ward to come back to them after he'd finished his tune-ups and maybe they could do business.

Golovkin has picked up 2 world titles since then. Ward still hasn't finished his tune-ups.

Tell me how that contract worked out, because I still haven't seen him fight either, nor has he had a big money or legacy fight that Ward would've been.

Hell Ward offered before the Lemeuix fight to fight him after the Lemeuix fight and the boy still avoided it.

As far as the two belts he's picked up, they're just window dressing. If they matter as much as he said they still wouldn't be begging Canelo for a shot.

Sure they are. That rumored opponent is not Ring or tbrb top 10. Ditto his previous opponent who was 10 spots lower than Wade on boxrec. Ditto Paul Smith, not one top 10 ranking. Delusional much?

Yeah, you don't need to actually keep up with Golovkin's career to post "li'l g is a hype job, he ducked Ward and Lara, why doesn't he move up " in every thread that has his name in it, so I'm not surprised you don't know how the contract he had with the WBC worked out.

It worked out very well for him, as a matter of fact. He got $800k step aside money from Cotto, the WBC belt, and a lot of great publicity from that contract, and all for doing nothing except signing it and sticking to the terms.

And why talking about him begging Canelo for a fight? Golovkin is the WBC champ. It's Canelo who has to chase a fight with him now, or at least pretend to be chasing it, not the other way round.

Here we are, now June 2nd, no Cotto, no Canelo, and no Ward. What an unfortunate turn of events! What should GGG do? Here's an old suggestion:

January 23, 2016:

"Other middleweight contenders such as Andy Lee, Hassan N’dam and Peter Quillin would be opponents that Golovkin could face but these fighters are all coming off of losses and would not bring Golovkin much in terms of notoriety. Lee and N’dam don’t bring titles to the mix anymore and Quillin after losing by first round knockout to Daniel Jacobs is moving up to super middleweight. Daniel Jacobs may be a possibility as well, but it doesn’t seem like a match up Jacobs himself wants at this stage. It was also recently reported that Matt Korobov would be willing to face Golovkin. Korobov was last seen being stopped by vicious Andy lee right hook and at this point doesn't seem to bring much to the table. [B]Therein lies the reason why Golovkin and his team should look to make a fight with Erislandy Lara.

Lara and his team have released statements through the media that they are willing to move up in weight and face Golovkin for the last two years. Both men don’t have fights scheduled at the moment and it would be the perfect time for this bout to take place. The promotional issues here are the sticking point and the on thing that could slow down negotiations. Unlike fellow Al Haymon promoted fighter Daniel Jacobs, Lara hasn’t made statements about a split PPV with Showtime and HBO needing to happen to make the fight. Lara and his fans have made it the narrative that Golovkin doesn’t want to step in the ring with him. Golovkin could answer the critics who believe Lara's movement would give him trouble. Whether you believe Lara lost to Canelo Alvarez or Carlos Molina, for Golovkin this would give him an opponent who is highly skilled and equally motivated. Certainly better equipped than most of the middleweights Golovkin has faced thus far and could really push him with his superior boxing skill. If Golovkin were to walk Lara down and take him out in three rounds it will have silenced many of his critics."

I favor Golovkin, but I want to know why he is avoiding movers/spoilers.

Forget Ward, MORA is the guy who they should have fought 2 years ago back when Golovkin was trying to establish himself..... an ex-champ who has clearly faded is the perfect opponent, and yet they made a whole bunch of silly excuses just like they did with Ward/Lara.

And they used their whole arsenal of excuses, because they did not have 1 genuine reason..... just like they did with Ward/Lara.

It should happen.
