I don't know, but that would of been a fun fight to see.

At 168 DeGale would be the only guy with any kind of chance, but as much as I like DeGale, I just can't see him beating James.

At 175, Ward almost certainly beats him and I would pick Kovalev to beat him as well, though that would be a war.
This is all very accurate. If he shows up in proper form he would be a problem for ANYONE between MW-LHW, and CW as well. I think GGG, Ward, and Kov would all be 50/50 fights that could go either way depending on IF he comes to fight. A lackluster, out of shape toney (which happened more often than it should have) couldve lost to guys like saunders, degale, jack, and stevenson

Both have power and iron chins so it goes to decision. I don't see Toney outworking GGG, specially if GGG chooses to fight behind the jab. If he goes to a brawl with Toney he might lose, but I think he would realize the jab is working and would stay behind it.

no man....we dont even know what GGG would do against a legit world class fighter

Ward would cause him the most problems..

Toney would straight up bomb golovkin's head off.. It would be an utter massacre.

Kovolev is tailor made for james

Stevenson would get knocked out cold by a brutal counter...

Well we have seen how James Toney does against world class fighters. Lost every round to Roy Jones, lost to Griffin twice, and struggled with guys he shouldn't struggle with if he were to beat GGG. Resume means more than skills, but James Toney lost when he stepped up, GGG hasn't but he has the style to beat Toney.

I couldn't believe that fight. Jirov was never the same. James went on to fight even bigger mofo's. He's got a mouth full of marbles now, but I'll go to my grave remembering James Toney.

Jirov at the time was a monster and crushing everyone up until Toney fought him. That fight is still entertaining to this day.

You're a sensible poster so indulge for one second. Name one thing in that post that is false? Toney is overrated, undisciplined , and a caught cheater.

I call them like I see them and i'm no fanboy. I'm from Puerto Rico and I think Tito is great at 147 yet one dimensional and could be outboxed(Oscar won btw). Cotto is a known diva with an attitude problem who disgraced the 160 division as Canelo did now by giving the belt to refuse a fight. Ward would probably beat Golovkin but it's only due to the size advantage. I believe Ward can fight at cruiser and GGG is pushing his luck at 168. Make them the same size GGG knocks his head off. Pac and Floyd are both cheats and May 2 was a disgrace to the sport. They should at least have a competitive high caliber match so that casuals could see not all boxing sucks.

Haymon has the right idea getting getting boxing back on free tv, but his execution has been horrible. I also think he is a snake that has caused HBO to no longer compete with the ridiculous purses he pays his fighters for fighting bums. Then they want the world to fight a real threat, and it is what is hurting competitive boxing the most.

That said Toney is not getting past GGG's jab. I know there are a lot of GGG fanatics that say he could probably lift the sun, but don't compare me to them. They will grow up when GGG loses or they will stop boxing altogether.

I dont know if you can crap on Toney for workrate. He has LANDED more than 400 punches in 5 fights.

                    LANDED over 400.

Toney would be a difficult fight, verrry verrry difficult fight for GGG. Toney is the only fighter in recent times that I can see not being bothered at all by GGG's power. He also has an ATG skill set.

Toney is very skilled, but also looked quite awful at times. Let's not forget he's a proven steroid user which could explain the difference in his performances, apart from his inability to stop eating whoppers.

That said assuming the best version of Toney he will still have problems with GGG's jab, and work rate(i'm excluding power because they both have it, along with iron chins). It's not a forgone conclusion but i think GGG takes it.
