I wouldn't compare him to GGG. I watched that fight live back around the time Toney got come back fighter of the year. Maybe it was after that fight, I don't remember. I couldn't believe that fight. Jirov was never the same. James went on to fight even bigger mofo's. He's got a mouth full of marbles now, but I'll go to my grave remembering James Toney.
Could a Prime "Lights Out" Clean Out current 160-175lb's?

Based on what James Toney actually was and not what he could have been...I say no. Toney was too inconsistent for me to believe that he could clean out those 3 divisions even today. He would probably be able to clean one out but he would likely have a couple of losses due to Toney being Toney....which is inconsistent.Comment

Beating Lemieux really proved he can beat Hearns and Toney.
These Lil G fans are ****ing insane.

Toney vs GGG is an interesting match up. As accurate and strong as GGG is he does show a lot of linear patterns.
Kovalev squishes him like a bug. Toney liked to play games within punching range too much to deal with the volume and movement. The shelling and slips would work once or twice then Kovalev would find distance and start landing bombs.Last edited by ////; 06-02-2016, 03:04 AM.Comment

I don't think Toney was ever prime in any other weight than middle and at middleweight, Toney probably beats all the guys around, except maybe GGG who has enough skill and power to hurt Toney as he just stands there taking shots.Comment

Slim to none.
He'd likely struggle and lose to fringe contenders like he did back then let alone clean out 3 divisions.Comment
