Comments Thread For: Golovkin vs. Ramirez: Arum, Loeffler Discuss Early 2017 Clash

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, who promotes WBO super middleweight champion Gilberto Ramirez (34-0, 24KOs), has spoken several times to K2 Promotions' Tom Loeffler, who promotes WBC/WBA/IBF/IBO middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs), about matching their fighters in early 2017.

Golovkin could end up fighting Chavez Jr and Rameriz before Alaverz in Sept '17.

These promoters are wankers, he mentions GGG and yet his next fight is a nobody,

Arum will groom Zurdo well before GGG. Expect Zurdo to fight a Russian around the same size as ggg before they fight. Im hoping Ramirez gets a Strum fight to Unify this year & than a GGG tune-up early next year. Hopefully Ramirez can steal Cinco de Mayo from Canelo and beat the brakes off ggg, thatd be the best outcome.

I keep hearing this about Ramirez as far as his chances go with GGG, but while I wouldn't say Ramirez has no shot I think he needs a perfect fight or as near as one can ever get to perfect to beat GGG. And I just don't see that happening.

I think this is gonna be a classic turtle vs rabbit race if it happens. Sooner or later GGG will catch up to him & its over. I guess you could compare it to Canelo vs Khan kinda too in that regard. Most thought Khan could provide some interesting things early on, but eventually....what happened was going to happen. This is the same thing only I'd give Ramirez more of an edge than Khan (which was virtually none, I think I referred to it as a "bet 90% of your ****" on fight) since he's a big young 168lber & GGG has been fighting at 160 more or less his whole career & could be 35 by the time he fights Ramirez.

Ahhh, he's wiling to go up to 168, again. Unless it's Ward. Hopefully, Ramirez puts an end to the media creation. Bring humility to the blind.

Team GGG make it hard for a fan of the fighter. I'm sure he does not mind fighting Ward but his team wants no parts of it. Now that Ward is tied up with moving up in weight and pursuing a Kovalev clash, team GGG is willing to move up to 168 for a fight. Why not do it for Ward? If you are going to say Ward isn't big enough draw like they have been saying, than how do you justify Ramirez being an option? Are they going to say Ramirez is a bigger draw/name than Ward? And I am in no way hating, check my past posts I am a big GGG fan and have never picked against him. I love the fighter but am skeptical about his team, esp the mouth of Abel Sanchez whom I believe does too much talking for a trainer. Triple G is a very hard W for anyone within a weight class or two from him, please just let the man fight.

This is all Arum talking. I wouldn't put to much into it. He's using GGG's name to get eyes on Zurdo. GGG has already said he's not interested in fighting Zurdo.
