Great objective article by ESPN regarding GGG vs Canelo and why Canelo vacated

Insinuates that Canelo maybe vacated because of the legal issues he's facing and that after that is resolved they will probably sit to negotiate with GGG. The fight would be huge at the end of 2016 or first half of 2017. I hope it happens. Canelo already said he has no issues in doing it at 160 so that's good.

Boxing history is replete with fights that shoulda, woulda, coulda been made but somehow weren't. Don't let this happen with a Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin showdown, Wallace Matthews writes.

He vacated because he doesn't agree with the 45-54 split and rightfully so

        1) Proof that GGG's team asked for 55-45 split?
        2) What should the reasonable split be?

But it wasn't a 55-45 split. And he never said anything about the legal issue when he vacated. He said he didn't want to be pressured by the WBC deadline. But the WBC will grant deadlines if you're negotiating in good faith.

Sulaiman has not revealed what the purse split would be in a purse-bid scenario, but champion Alvarez will receive substantially more than WBC challenger Golovkin
Mauricio Sulaiman is not sitting in on the meetings where promoters are discussing the possibility of a Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin middleweight title unification bout, but the head of the World Boxing Council is close enough to the talks to have formed a strong opinion on how they’re…

Gg wbc intermediate title is entitled to 45-55 why would they not get it?

First of all, Golden Boy could then forget about a 90-10 split. According to WBC rules, normally a champion gets 70% and a challenger gets 30%, however, the WBC has the option to modify the split to 60-40% or 55-45%, or in the most exceptional circumstances, 50-50%. With Golovkin being an interim champion, he would figure to make a higher percentage than a mere contender.

The rules also give the WBC President the authority to resolve any issue regarding purse offers or to take whatever action deemed necessary and appropriate regarding purse offer procedures “to preserve justice and equality.”

The vacating of the title by Canelo was a clear sign to some that he wasn’t interested in facing Golovkin. Of course, if you spin it the other way, you could say that it was a calculated business move by Canelo to give up his WBC title in order to avoid having to fight Golovkin at the full weight for the middleweight division at 160, and to avoid having to pay him a decent purse split of 55-45 rather than the 90-10 split that Canelo’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya wants.

ESPN objective? Come on man ESPN is a joke, they fired Curt Schilling for speaking the truth and then they had two **** dudes making out during the NFL draft.

Weight is the main reason why the fight wasn't made.

I'm going off the words of the WBC president. Also in the WBC rules it states they have a right to alter the rules if they see fit, which they've done plenty of times. He said the split wasn't determined yet but Canelo would get a lot more than GGG. And this was before Canelo vacated

No I dont buy it. You're acting ****** as usual. GGG would be okay with a 70-30 split in canelos favour.
