GGGs goal is to unify the MW division and get the most lucrative fights possible. Cannel is obviously the #1 goal- He's a lineal MW champ and brings in major $$ --- Makes complete sense.

BJ Saunders- has a WBO MW titleholder (only belt GGG is missing in his collection), is popular in his native land and is in GGGs weight division. Makes sense to make this fight.

Daniel Jacobs- secondary WBA titlist- Would sell out Barclay or MSG in New York. Is recognized a credible challenger and once again, is a champion in GGGs weight class. Brings decent ratings to showtime/ PBC to warrant discussions with HBO to make this fight. Makes sense to make this fight.

Eubanks-- Popular MW fighter who is a top 10 ranked MW and brings $$ to the fight (in the UK). Credible challenger and makes sense.

Lara- Never fought at MW, hasnt even faced the best in his weight class yet, garners horrible ratings on showtime/PBC, has a 'boring/ non exciting' reputation due to his fighting style. Makes zero sense

Top boxers are more inclined to fight him now than when he just became a MW champion. That's saying something. The critics were wrong about him having to chase the biggest names. His popularity continues to climb. Let everybody get in line...

I think the Haymon wall of selfish promotion would have altogether prevented that bout from happening in the past. This is not to say that Lara isn't a good fighter. This is saying that back then, when GGG was looking for opponents, Haymon was in a position to refuse any good fights for all his fighters. But now that shackle is being loosened by Haymon himself (perhaps in response to the lawsuits levied against him...we still don't know if the PBC will ever make a profit). But in today's landscape, now that there are boxers who are now willing to fight GGG, it's a hard sale to the paying public to accept a Lara fight when GGG could have become undisputed fighting BJS, or increased his 160 scalps by going after Eubanks Jr. From a sport perspective, BJS comes first, but not Eubanks. From a monetary perspective, Lara would be the last consideration.

Some good points, but with the ones you've named off, that's only 3. And that's little more than a years worth of fights for GGG. At some point, Lara has to be considered. Maybe not the next fight, but sometime soon.

GGG has fought his entire career at 160 pounds , his dream fight is to fight a guy at 147 pounds , but he stands their trembling in a puddle with piss running down his leg when CANELO calls him out at 155 pounds.

Agreed. Lara is a possibility...but a 3rd option for GGG's team. Let's not hold our breaths waiting for the announcement because it seems they're still trying to negotiate with GBP. I think I speak for all boxing fans when I say: I prefer the GGG/Canelo fight.

This fight won't happen because so few even like to watch Lara fight. With two other championship bought, Lara's last fight didn't break 500k on Showtime. GGG last four have averaged well over a million. But it's not these numbers to blame so much as it is what Lara is asking for purse wise. It's been said repeatedly, Lara doesn't command millions of dollars to fight GGG, and k2 has zero reason to dole it out to him. GGG wins, the haters who call for this fight just say he was too small. And I think both Lara and Jacobs are showtime fighters, doubtful they are coming to HBO. And fights have to be profitable, and with Lara asking for $3-$6 million, it's not a fight that will happen. If Lara would take a reasonable purse for the small fan base he has, I'd be betting k2 would consider him. 450k with two other championship fights is not gonna command you $3-$6 million. Then GGG would need $5-8. Undercard, promotions, etc. it'd have to be ppv, and that's not happening

Maybe he just doesn't want to risk losing? By immediately facing GGG, he'd also get to skip to the front of the line, regardless if you think he deserves it or not. If he loses to GGG, he has a built-in excuse that he wasn't ready for MW and then he'd just go back down to LMW. Lara has nothing to lose, so of course he wants the bout. It's GGG who'd look ****in ****** by losing to an unproven MW who hasn't even cleaned up LMW.

That's just another excuse. Risk losing? HE is the one who wants to be King Of The Mountain, take on all comers. At one point either he or his people said anyone 154-168. So what the risk. The experience he'd gain fighting a slick awkward boxer like Lara would be invaluable. He needs to fight Lara at some point within the next year or two.

When Lara instructs his manager, Luis DeCubas Jr., or advisor, Al Haymon, to contact K2’s Tom Loeffler and make a serious offer, or at least try to start up real negotiations, THEN I will give him respect for calling out “the man” of the 160-pound division.

I’m not into it. I don’t see how he would be competitive and I don’t think he’s earned the right to challenge a unified middleweight titleholder. The guy lost four or five LEGIT rounds to Vanes Martirosyan. Nothing against the perennial 154-pound contender, but if you can’t hurt Martirosyan, how the f__k you gonna hold off GGG?

I would MUCH prefer Jacobs – I think that’s a competitive fight and I believe it would make for a high-profile event in the NYC/Brooklyn area – but if Haymon and HBO OK’d Lara for GGG that would definitely continue the trend of the PBC offering up sacrificial lambs to other promoters.

164 is not a weight class....168 is. Maybe you should ask lil g & K2 why they won't fight Ward & Ramirez at 168, and while your at it why he can make 154 easy but not 155.
