This **** has killed the sport and it's the reason why we very rarely see top class prime fighters fight each other anymore.

Roach is right. Canelo has fought smaller names like Trout and Lara but those guys knew their position in the game and got paid accordingly so it made sense.
GGG wants star treatment but doesn't want to earn it. Canelo can make just as much $$$ fighting bum ass Margacheato than a GGG fight would make him right now. GGG is a better fighter but he is not a PPV draw although he wants to be paid like one.
Go take some risky fights like Canelo has and build up your rep and then you can make demands. As it stands right now 155 and an 80/20 PPV split would be a generous offer for GGG. He is no longer the mandatory and has no other leverage other than bowing down to Canelo's terms.Last edited by QballLobo; 05-27-2016, 05:29 PM.Comment

He's a star since he sells out arenas on both coasts dummy, gets excellent ratings, and is the most talked about boxer nowadays, see this forum, butthurt cretinComment

That's cute little story but I dont see how you narrative fits with the fact that Ward was offered a 50-50 purse split. You certainly dont offer an even split and claim a fight doesnt make "financial sense".
And with Lara, notice the difference between the two. Golovkin didnt have to drop a belt, I mean, THE belt, to avoid a fight with Lara. Alvarez had to vacate the title to avoid Golovkin.
Do you see the differences now?
No, I don't LMAO
Golovkin-Ward: Promoter Doesn't See Financial Sense.....
NEW YORK – A middleweight championship unification fight against Miguel Cotto probably is the most unlikely of Gennady’s Golovkin’s potential options to actually materialize. Golovkin versus Andre Ward seems to be a close second. While Ward and Golovkin both have said that they’ll fight each other, Golovkin’s promoter made it clear in the aftermath of Golovkin’s third-round knockout of Daniel Geale on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden that the dollars might not make sense for Golovkin or Ward.Comment

Trust me, Ward vs. Lil G is a much better/bigger fight if you actually enjoy boxing and aren't a Golovtard. How you can give Lil G a pass for the BS catchweight he threw at Ward after calling anyone from 154-168lbs I'll never understand... The guy is no different than Canelo both are business men first if you going to criticized one guy and not the other just shows how ignorant you truly are
GREAT post !
Only the two-faced fanboy's see those situations as different.
They be in loveComment

I agree but why not fight now and the loser can earn a rematch down the road? Especially if it is a competitive fight. I would have loved to see Floyd PAC 3 years ago and a rematch later down the roadComment

Its sad that the concept of "critical thinking" is lost on so many people here. First off, there never was a 164 offer sent to Ward. It was simply a comment made from Loeffler to Dan Rafael, and you idiots ran wild with it. It was never a serious offer.
And the fact that you believe that a trainer saying he thinks his guy could beat anyone from 154-168 (which myself and many other agree with) somehow magically means every single fight from 154-168 is somehow makeable, and that GGG should concede every negotiating point to the opponent no matter the economics involved, clearly illustrates that you really shouldnt be talking about topics like this. Its obviously outside your grasp.......
Cool attempt to re-write history..... but nah, that's rubbish !!
Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas - Abel Sanchez, trainer of WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin, has made it absolutely clear that he's not going to budge from his position that a potential fight with Andre Ward will only happen if Ward - the recognized champion at super middleweight - is wiling to meet them halfway at a catch-weight of 164-pounds. Golovkin and his team received more than their fair share of heat in recent days, after placing a catch-weight demand on a potential fight with Ward. The reason for the heat, is because Golovkin was willing to fight both Carl Froch and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. at the full super middleweight limit.
Promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, who handle IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs), says a fight can certainly be worked out with WBA super middleweight king Andre Ward (28-0, 15 KOs). But the deal would have to be under Golovkin's terms and not dictated by Ward. Loeffler feels Golovkin has surpassed Ward as a ticket seller and in terms of name recognition - making GGG the A-side of the negotiations.

Also.....
Ward and Golovkin have been in negotiations to set up a fight. However, negotiations haven’t been going smoothly thus far, with Golovkin’s team requesting a 164 lb. catch-weight.....
..... From what it looks like, Golovkin and his team are preventing this fight from happening. Golovkin offered to fight the now retired Carl Froch at the super-middleweight limit of 168 lbs., as well as former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., but wants a catch-weight for Andre Ward?
“Ward wants to fight Golovkin, and he wants to fight next, but it won’t happen at 164-pounds. By accepting 168 with Carl Froch and Chavez Jr., but then demanding 164 with Ward – it’s their way of saying, ‘we don’t want to fight Andre Ward,” the source revealed to Boxing Scene.....
According to a source which spoke exclusively to Boxing Scene, WBA Super World super-middleweight champion Andre Ward (28-0, 15 KO’s) and WBA Super World middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KO’s) have been in negotiations to set up a fight. However, negotiations haven’t been going smoothly thus far, with Golovkin’s team requesting a 164 lb.Comment
