This isn't news. This is call up a fighter, ask a few leading questions and write up a story. To me the title made it sound like Washington's camp had been approached and he was saying it was very possible. Nothing there. Crap journalism. Lot of this lately - calling up boxers and ask what they think about xyz. get some proper news ! Rant over.

Why is the sport continually whored out to fighters like Gerald Washington?

Here's the WBC top 15 contenders:

          1 .- Alexander Povetkin (Russia)
          2 .- Bermane Stiverne (Haiti/Canada)
3 .- Kubrat Pulev (Bulgaria) EBU
4 .- Johann Duhaupas (France) SILVER
          5 .- Carlos Takam (Cameroon)
6 .- Joseph Parker (New Zealand) OPBF
7 .- Andy Ruiz (Mexico) NABF
          8 .- David Haye (GB)
          9 .- Bryant Jennings (US)
          10 .- Malik Scott (US)
          11 .- Artur Szpilka (Poland)
          12 .- Eric Molina (US)
          13 .- Dereck Chisora (GB)
          14 .- Ruslan Chagaev (Uzbekistan/Germany)
          15 .- Gerald Washington (US)

Pulev (Sauerland) and Ruiz (Top Rank) can be made since both will deal with Haymon (I think). Both fought this month, though, so they'd need time to recover.

Wildcherry picker, the canelo of HW. There is no shame in boxing anymore among these toilet paper "champions". Stiverne should be forced to rematch at least. Pulev would be best, Haye and Chagaev would be legit.

I assume this is Haymon and Wilder's camp throwing out Washington's name to see if they can get away with it. Hype artist toilet paper champs like Wilder always fight the worst possible guy they can get away with. Hopefully it will be ridiculed and they will have to fight a world class fighter.

Damn, pretty much only Haye would be a decent fight out of this list
