Catchweights have been around for a long time, it's an argument I make a lot. Which is why there is nothing wrong with them...as long as they are between guys moving up in weight facing someone bigger.
Mayweather was a 2 time champion in his own weight division asking Canelo to climb down in weight. You can deny that if you like but even if Mayweather didn't start the trend, he popularised it on a mass scale.
Mayweather is a welter, you silly **** !
Explain the 145lb catchweight for Cotto !Comment

Sounds about fright from CJ. He's a bum. Canelo is actually a star. CJ's dad talks about being constantly embarrassed when his son comes in overweight for fights. He knows it gives him an advantage. Chavez Sr was a WARRIOR. None of this PC sissy age weight ****Comment

Oscar was fighting THE undisputed middleweight champion, being out done in height and reach.
Floyd was fighting his 3rd fight at the weight and was only now demanding a catchweight. These are two different things entirely. Plus Floyd is taller and has a longer reach than Canelo.
But keep living in dream land.
And Oscar was fighting his 2nd fight at middleweight when he fought hopkinsComment

It's actually easier to move up when your older, easier to move down when your younger. Hence why Canelo/GGG are dead set on weights. 5 lbs in either direction puts one in a disadvantage.Comment
