Yeah, that can happen if they want it to.

When Kubrat Pulev was mandatory for Wlad's IBF title, they struck a deal of some sort so that only the IBF title was up for grabs. I think it had something to do with paying less in sanctioning fees (on Pulev's part), but I'm not entirely sure.

Thanks makes sense. But I don't agree with it and it is usually all the belts are on the line. But I think brook might do that

I think both belts would be up for grabs? Look at Fury vs Wlad.

Fury took all of Wlads belts

Unless they can negotiate some kind of deal where by only one belt is up for grabs? I am sure someone knows more about this belt subject than me

Brook could vacate the IBF title and keep the belt he wins off Vargas.
Sounds like brook has to make Spence agree to thst. Hopefully spence agrees to brooks concessions or else brook can just vacate the IBF

No he can't. When a unification fight is sanctioned, all of the relevant bodies recognise both fighters as valid for their championship. This is subject to sanctioning fees. When a unified champion defends a mandatory for 1 belt, the other bodies recognise the other fighter as a voluntary defence.

In the Wlad-Pulev scenario, Pulev only paid sanctioning fees to the IBF, so the other bodies did not sanction Pulev for their title. Had Pulev won, Wlad would have remained the WBA/WBO champion (though organisations sometimes strip champions if they lose like this).

Spence has the right not to pay sanctioning fees to the WBO if Brook is the unified champion, meaning he'd only win the IBF belt. Brook would keep the WBO belt (probably stripped after). However theres nothing Brook can do to make this happen on his side

The title is ******. As if it needs some explanation. Here are the facts:

Spence called out Brook multiple times before and after the Algieri fight, not to mention Dibella saying, "Kell Brook will want no piece of Spence."

Team Brook heard it loud and clear. Hearn contacted someone in the Spence team, possibly either Haymon or Dibella. Later, the Spence camp was saying they're going the mando route, which reports say is scrapped because the Russian challenger backed out of it.

So what is there to explain? Why not just say he's got a mando to fulfill, end of story? What does Vargas have to do with anything?

Hearn said Spence's team turned it down, not Spence specifically. And then he heard Spence again saying he'd take that fight, so Hearn said he went back a second time to make sure and they turned it down again saying it's a bigger fight down the road...which it is really.

Bottom line is Spence is not ready for prime time yet. That's what his fans say. No need to explain.

Well after Vargas shocks everyone, there will be only one fight thats worth watching and thats Vargas vs. Garcia. Unless Spence gets the Thurman vs. Porter winner (which will only happen if Porter wins) I doubt Spence gets a title shot anytime soon, I wouldn't doubt if he needs to move up to get a title shot.

I think both fighters need to be ranked by the sanctioning body. Say fighter A never paid the sanctioning fees.........that particular group isn't just going to let someone have one of their belts without getting money from it.

Guessing the belt goes up for grabs in a title eliminator.
