Don't be baffled. Very few fighters aim for stinker no hopers from a division below with outsized purse demands. You understand if Lara wants 1.5m+ this would have to be ppv, but ppv buyers don't wanna see Lara, esp if they caught him choking vs Canelo

    • He doesn't deserve a shot at GGG. But GGG can't get Saunders or Jacobs next, then fine, make the fight. But I don't if GGG will wait until the end of the year to fight again.

      • I would like to see GGG actually do it instead of just talking about it.
If GGG can't get any of the other top guys just try to negotiate a fight against Lara.

Didn't people say this about Matthysse as well and how he would crush Garcia? I favor GGG as well but that doesn't mean the fight shouldn't happen because people "THINK" GGG would beat him

You have the guy who style people love and you have the style the people "Hate" and want to see him get destroyed so why not just make the fight?
Because it can easily backfire. I personallly think ggg would win but this could turn into one of those fights where he looks like **** even with the W. Thats what everyone is scared of. He might not actually have an answer to a boxer. With lara's garbage work rate he wont lose but it could open the door to what it takes to beat him. Knowing how boxing works it would not surprise me in the slightest if ggg looks like **** against lara and a canelo fight reveals itself right after.

I don't think he is, though. How do you even gauge a win over Murray at 160, vs a win over Lara at 160. Lara hasn't even fought at 160 before as far as I know. Beating Lara at 160 is not the same as beating him at 154. Again, this is blurring the disinction between name and quality. Lara has a name for being a quality fighter at 154, but you can't use his name to also say he's quality at 160 too. It doesn't work like that.

You could make the case if there was some solid reference as to the middleweight being much poorer in quality. We only use personal perspectives on here to judge that, mostly clouded by bias. The only tiny speck of evidence we have is Cotto vs drained Geale, but its not reliable because it was at 157. Theres definitely more recognisable names at 154, but it doesn't mean they are any better

              EXACTLY!

While I favor GGG big time in that fight as well, make no mistake, Lara has a tricky style that could easily make even GGG look bad!

this is what is at the heart of the matter.

that said, if it's lara or willie wade the third, i'm not going to complain if lara fights golovkin. just don't make me buy it on PPV, please

I think Jacobs is a stud and I've always been a huge fan but the problem is that he hasnt seemed eager to fight GGG either. He went ghost on us since Quillin and as soon as his name got tied to GGG..the very next day or two his team announces a fight with no opponent. Eubank Jr has a fight coming up he wont be ready for sept. Lara just fought now..in May. GGG is fighting in Sept. Why not Lara? Unless he's getting Canelo there's not a single relevant name at ANY division who's willing or able to fight him in Sept. Lara just called him out again and has time for a long rest and full training camp.
Lara is not a name fighter. Time to stop pretending like he is. There is a reason why he was fighting at the Cosmo, not the MGM, not even Thomas & Mack, but the Cosmo.

It's not an easy sell to whoever is spending 4m on this: it's a mismatch but Lara has a chance of stinking it out for a bit. Anyway with 3 belts Ggg shouldn't be wasting a voluntary on this, but it'd be a fine mando so let's hope Lara goes for it

People can spin it anyway they want, Lara>anybody GGG has fought and a win over Lara would still be his most noteworthy win other than his defeat of Canelo last week and making him give up his belt

Canelo did not have to fight Lara either, but he did
