Who's the greatest white heavyweight boxer of all time?

Dempsey had this sort of vendetta and inability to cope with the changing ways of the bourgeois 1920's post war America that made him as sort of an animal. He was mean, he was morally corrupt, and he was a genuinely vicious guy.
As for who was more vicious, I would say they were cut from the same cloth. Hardworking gentlemen outside of the ring, but brutal and lethal inside.
Some of you guys have no clue about these men, in the ring or out.Last edited by Kid Achilles; 11-13-2006, 06:16 PM.

He would also not have turned down Al Capone's offer to fix the 2nd Tunney fight like he did. Dempsey was disliked early on because he was considered a draft dodger but he was known to be very charismatic and likeable in the mid and late 1920's. The women especially lusted after Dempsey. Why do you think he was a movie and serial star? The men wanted to be him and the women just plain wanted him. Marciano never enjoyed such popularity.

...Ask Chris Byrd and Calvin Brock how fast Wlad's hands are??

Wlad has quick hands for his size but Dempsey's were a blur when he threw that straight right. Wlad does not have the capabilities to fight inside, while Dempsey was king there. Wlad has great power and accuracy, and so did Dempsey. Wlad's chin is suspect (but underrated) while Dempsey was incredible durable and was difficult to hit in the chin to begin with.
Dempsey would have no problem with Wlad and I am a huge Wlad fan. It'd be like a Tyson vs. Wlad fight except Dempsey was a much better inside fighter than Tyson, was quicker on his feet, had a longer reach and a straighter, better right hand, and had more heart.
Now Marciano, I see Wlad having a chance with. Dempsey? No way in hell.

But Dempsey is looking mean just standing there without throwing punches. Imagine if Marciano was not throwing a punch or Dempsey was throwing a punch. Sorry mass Pride, but Dempsey is more vicious.

if dempsey fought wlad, it would be a terrible beatdown, dempsey could throw as many punches as a welterweight. wlad couldn't handle being swarmed like that
