I was impressed with Parker's chin and I thought he was spent after 6 rounds, going the 12 and managing to pace himself and finish strong showed real heart against a tough opponent.

He needs a few more fights before stepping up in my opinion, lets not forget that's his first 12 rounds and world level opponent. Looking good for this kid though

I see soooooo many problems with Parker it's not even funny. Forget about rushing him into a Joshua fight-Joshua is better in every aspect-literally.

Parker looked so disorganized it wasn't funny. I think he needs at least 2-3 years of learning before he gets in the ring with anyone ranked top ten... I am not even confident he beats an old Briggs or an old Thompson. All this talk of Parker's power and speed is horse-****.

Anyone who thinks Wilder's footwork is bad really needs to look at Parker. I know he stepped up a few levels in competition tonight, but there are some things that shouldn't falter even in this event.

I agree, I really like Parker, hes only 24 but courageous and good chin and showed good maturity for that 12 round war, Takam coulda done a bit more it seemed but Parker passed a big gutcheck
Hes fast but limited and his reach isnt much for his height so he gonna struggle a bit
His footwork isnt good and his power is solid but unexceptional, things I mentioned before but they just about chucked me out of NZ lol

Hes still learning but he needs more game, top 10 maybe but Ortiz, Haye, Joshua destroy him

But he only 24, hes tough and hes smart but he needs a manny steward

At least if they put him in with Joshua I hope its a clean KO not a massive beating, he needs another 3 or 4 quality opponents first

Didn´t see the fight but it´s a big win, let´s not forget that in HW years Parker is still just a baby..

i agree that he is flawed, but his positives outweigh the negatives and he still has time to learn. he may not retire undefeated but i'm sure he will be a menace in the HW division for a long time and give us some great fights
How is Takam a genuine contender? And contender for what?

              Parker looked good-ish.

I wouldn't put him in with AJ though.

do you even know who carlos takam is? at least take a moment to familiarise yourself with his boxrec profile. he has already comfortably beaten thompson

takam is a solid top 10 who comes to win, not some washed-up journeyman or second-tier prospect

anyone who didn't foresee parker having a hard time today either vastly overestimated him or vastly underestimated takam

he is comfortably top ten based on his record and his all-round game

he would likely make joshua struggle just as much as he did parker

Parker showed the flaws in this fight that he seems to jave had for a while. He leaves himself open for counters and is open to being crowded and hustled. Also showed the positives with very quick hands, a good chin and good combination punching

Overall for a first step up (and a big one at that) it was a good performance. Nit going to set the world a light, but decent. The guy is so young, he has plenty of time to improve

I feel bad for Takam, why didnt he take his last chance harder? Is Parker really that strong? I was impressed he couldnt bull Parker around apart from when he had him hurt but its odd he didnt pour on more pressure, his timing and spacing was all off
