IMO the hand Golovkin had was obvious.

Do what you've been saying you want to do for 4+ years now.

    "154 to 168."

Take the catchweight and kick Canelo's ass since you probably have an easier time at the weight than Saul does.

    But they blew it.

And now they might not ever get the fight.

Makes me wonder if he and his team think they'd be compromised at that weight vs Saul.

And in that case, they should not have talked about ANY fight under the middleweight limit.

GGG will fight anyone at 160. Why is it so hard to see that everyone runs from him. I bet Khan will fight GGG for a payday. See Khan has balls to step up, however ill advised. Canelo cannot walk away from this foght. He will lose huge numbers in ppv. GGG numbers will continue to rise b.c. he k.o's guys in his own weight class. He takes no real damage and can fight 4 times a year gaining a tyson like following as he obliterates any man brave enough to glove up and nut up.

Canelo just did walk away from the fight.

And I would be surprised if it took place this year unless Golovkin agrees to 155.

Oh, that isn't the reason they will give for negotiations failing but that WILL be the reason no matter what they say.

And no, Canelo won't lose jack.

Unlike Gennady, he has options. At 160 AND 154...or at Caneloweight.

You think one of the Charlo brothers or Andrade wouldn't be all over that 155 thing? No, it might not get on PPV, but HBO will pay a lot for it anyway.

And don't thing Saul can't get BJS or Jacobs to do what Golovkin wouldn't- those get on PPV definitely.

So, with a second gifted title that didn’t require a single punch to be thrown for, what is next for Team G & Loeffler?

The obvious choices are Saunders and Jacobs, and in that order if you are a fight fan. But, it may not play out that way.

Saunders holds the lone major belt not in Gennady’s possession. This would seem to be the hands down next thing for him, unless you actually believe the fight with Canelo is still possible for this year.

I do not. I do not believe GBP will allow a fight in 2016 without a 155 lb catchweight, and I do not believe Golovkin will agree to that catchweigh under any circumstances. I also think that there will be some blowback on the part of GBP for putting them in the position of having to vacate, and that now they may very well avoid a fight (and the gift of a huge payday) with lil g for a few years.

          So, on to Saunders.

But, there are some things that may throw a wrench into the Saunders fight being made as well.

First and foremost, it is not likely to be a very lucrative match for Loeffler & Co. The only carrot here is the belt Golovkin doesn’t have. Yes, there is a scenario where it can do good box office, but that still doesn’t necessarily bode well for the bottom line.

That scenario is if the fight is held in Britain. But, holding it there (or anywhere else for that matter) is now going to cost Loeffler and Co a lot more than the 1.5 million Saunders is reported to have turned down previously. Billy Joe is reported to have been talking about a $6.5 million dollar payday, and this was before he became the lone belt not in Golovkin’s possession. Now that he is the last obstacle to “undisputed”, you can bet that the price has gone up.

And Saunders has options. A rematch with Eubank will do great in the UK. And do not be shocked if BJS is also on Canelo’s short list of opponents, especially if Saul plans to take fights to get ready for an eventual showdown with the Kazakh. And there are other folks who will take a shot at the WBA belt, if only to line up a shot with either Golovkin or Canelo, one or both of whom are certain to come calling for it.

          Then there is Jacobs.

In my opinion, this will be the next fight for Gennady. It is an easy fight to make now that Haymon fighters are back on HBO. And with Jacobs having accepted 1.5 to fight Quillin last year, he would seem to be the more economical option for Loeffler as well.

But, make no mistake, Jacobs is probably the much more dangerous fight. And, Jacobs is also the WBA mandatory for Golovkin if no Canelo fight is made. However, my guess is that since they have yet to get the huge payday from a Canelo fight, you may not see this one soon either.

My prediction? You will not see Golovkin fight either of the guys that logically make the most sense for him to fight in September. Nor will you see a fight with a guy like Lara. What you will most likely see is more of the same- him biding his time again while he waits for a huge payday fight to appear.

But, it may not be forthcoming anytime soon. He may just have to look upwards of 160 for that big fight after all.
The diva played herself out, now she has to live with the ridicule that comes along with being a ducker.

GGG doesn't need her now and along with the criticism for being a duck, she will have to deal with the criticism for beating up on smaller foes. If she decides to finally face MW's at 160, she loses her "A-side" catchweight leverage as well.

So, in short, GGG doesn't need to agree to anything with the princess now, she will be forced to give into his demands within a year's time if he simply walks away from the negotiation table right now.

            I disagree.

And I doubt this will greatly harm Canelo's overall popularity one bit.

As long as he can spin it as a negotiation problem, some folks will buy it.

Meanwhile, he can keep fighting at 154 or 155 or even try certain 160 lb guys.

As long as he keeps winning, folks will support him, especially his countrymen.

GGG has done nothing wrong. Why do you trash him for winning belts without throwing a punch??????????? He is there ready to fight for the belt so don't blame him because so called champions chicken out and refuse to fight him. GGG probably can't make a dime with Canelo because Canelo probably won't fight him. It doesn't matter if Oscar is keeping the fight from happening or if Canelo doesn't want the fight. The end results are the same. GGG didn't overplay a thing. He stood up for his rights and refused to be jacked around. Good for him. He will make good money without Canelo. Canelo's refusal to fight him will just make him a bigger star.

If he doesn't fight Canelo he's ducking. Bottom line. Can't pass on Canelo, Ward, Froch, Chavez Jr, Lara, and Mora and expect people not to notice he's the common denominator in fights not being made. GGG isnt going to get the benefit of the doubt vs Ginger. He has too few fans and isnt doing enough to make fights with people calling him out in his weight ranges. Canelo's fans don't care about the belt... He's fought a better fighter than GGG and has always given us what we wanted. Aside from the few GGG fans no one cares that Canelo vacated..lets be honest.

Team GGG..bottom line needs to man the f uck up and call their bluff if they think Canelo is making it difficult. They never call...always fold. Just make a public statement like "GGG will fight at any weight above 155, canelo can come out second, be announced second..whatever gloves, first name on the promotion..just pay him his just due."

Wtf is Team GGG doing? Call it.

Caneo isnt just the cash cow..he's also the step up in competition. Make no mistake.. GGG is stepping up if he fights Canelo. Canelo isnt stepping up in competition.

Team GGG has ZERO leverage. ZERO.

Canelo can take the BjS fight from him...the jacobs fight too. GGG needs to man up and stop letting everybody fight each other while he collects belts and rejects the big fights.
                  Wtf is this fantasy novel?

The Canelo stock has greatly lost its value in the past few days

Canelo can take the BJS or Jacobs fights? Yellow Canelo will lose to either or.

So Canelo being a puss is GGG fault...Saunders asking for 6.5 million or more is GGG fault....Jacobs being with Haymon and them wanting the fight to go to purse bids(which I suspect they do) will be GGG fault...Lara being known by 6 guys on here and bringing zero fans or money to a fight is GGG fault... The IBF ranking Wade where they did was GGG fault... Cotto,Martinez,Sturm,Geale all ducking him with the titles was GGG fault...

Let's be honest, war, poverty, racism, inequality, gender bias, herpes, and AIDS are all the fault of GGG...

Finally after 40 years on earth I've found out what it all boils down to... A guy from Khazakstan with a goofy haircut and smile named GGG...
