Golovkin owes the WBA a title defense (with Alvarez vacating the belt by mid-May, the WBA likely starts the forced negotiation period tomorrow).

For all the talk of "I just want the belts", Golovkin giving up a belt to fight Alvarez would look foolish.

Nice move by Golden Boy Promotions, now that Canelo has vacated the belt. The WBA will mandate Lil G to Fight Jacobs for the undisputed WBA Championship. As we all know Lil G can't fight anywhere but HBO and Jacobs being a Haymon fighter only fights for the PBC. If this fight goes to a purse bid which it will there's no way HBO outbids PBC which in turn will make HBO tell Lil G to vacate instead of having the fight on Showtime or some other network, priceless

I question how much he's improved over the years. At 154 I think he's in real trouble if he ever fights Demetrius Andrade, Jermell Charlo, or Julian Williams.

Canelo will always struggle against good boxers who can move. His slow feet and inability to cut the ring mean that that he won't get a lot of chances to land clean punches, and with his lack of real KO power, he can't make the most of the chances he does get.
