Lmao. What a wuss. Obviously now WBA mandates Jacobs Golovkin and canelo is off the hook. Or maybe they'll let Golovkin take BJS unification.

If he really wanted to fight him he wouldn't have vacated the title.

Lol at all the Canelo fans trying to defend this massive, historic duck.

'Smart move... Gives him more leverage'

Does it fu**. He has no belt now. He's the champ of pish all. Demand GGG comes in at a catchweight as a contender for GGG's 160 titles? K2 will rightfully tell him to Jeff off and GGG won't look any the worse for it.

Needs more time to marinate? Now is the time, before Canelo drops a decision, GGG moves up, or people just stop caring.

GGG can unify now and Canelo can carry on fighting blown-up light Welters.

Two different situations and different times

We're in post May-Pac era where the PPV's aren't what they once were. Canelo's last PPV, with a big name like Amir Khan, did 460,000 PPV buys. If you quickly glance at the GBP roster you'll notice that they're devoid of name fighters for Canelo. Which means his next fight on PPV is going to do even worse numbers than the Khan fight and will result in even more backlash.

I don't see this situation going well for Canelo at all.

            GGG: "Give me my belt."
            Canelo: "OK."

I think it's official. No fighter in the history of boxing has been as feared and constantly ducked as GGG.

I'm not even sure he's that good. He often looks vulnerable in the ring. But what the ****?

Sergio wouldn't fight him, Cotto wouldn't fight him, Canelo won't fight him, now he's getting their lineal titles via forfeit. Quillin hid in a cupboard. Sanders openly said "GGG would beat me and my opponent on the same night". WTF is going on?

At what point will Canelo get on his knees and beg Cotto for a rematch? I imagine sometime in the next month.

How many top level fighters don't even want 50/50's these days though?

As of this point right now his actions are consistent with what we see time and again as a way of avoiding a fight.

I don't think a fight this year makes as much financial sense as fighting next May on Cinco de Mayo weekend. The thing is if that's Golden Boy's plans they leave themselves open to accusations that they ducked the fight then were forced into it at a later date.

Whether they'd care is another matter.
