The massive payday fighting wlad went out the door when he got laid out. Lennox also considered going to buffalo to fight joe mesi because he could bring in good crowds in buffalo arena.
What does Sanders /Rhaman have to do with Wlad taking Sanders lightly? Maskaev knocked Rahman out cold a year prior so i dont think Wlad or anyone including Lewis thought much of Rahman which why Lewis himself got k'od by Rahman after . The real deal is Wlad didnt bring in a southpaw to work with to prepare for Sanders ,which is mind boggling .

Well.... vs Byrd, Vitali had a torn rotator cuff & when he quit he was leading on all judge's scorecard..
Because Tyson did not agree for the rematch & Johnson backed out Vitali was offered..
Vitali would have been the mandatory challenger for Lennox-Johnson winner so he had earned his shot..

But that loss to Lennox was a blessing in disguise for Vitali as his stock shot up bigtime..

Lewis was not in his best physical condition as he was not verry motivated at this stage of his career thats why he retired after it.

Yet tries another fight and goes after Mike Tyson a second time after the Vitali fight?

Lewis himself along with Steward saying Tyson rematch/ Vitali /Wlad was all on the agenda weeks before the Vitali fight he even added Kirk Johnson because both Lewis and Steward thought Johnson was going to beat Vitali but when he saw what Vitali did to him 6 months after he lost to Lewis he then announced his retirement.

You know when Holmes says anything positive about the Klitchkos you know its time to walk or runaway because even Holmes said Lewis knows hes in for a beating if Lewis gives him a second chance. Holmes cant even admit that Wlad has a good jab as a matter of fact he thinks he doesn't even have one

Wlad didnt take Sanders lightly he was just a bad style matchup. That's why Vitali fought him instead of Wlad. The same reason Wlad fought Byrd for Vitali.

The sanders/Rahman fight was a pretty good indication of how hard he could hit. Sanders was not on the radar at all. He was brought in to be an opponent after 10 guys turned the fight down. It wouldn't surprise me if Wlad never even watched tapes on Sanders. I got about a dozen or so Sanders fights prior to the Wlad fight. He was smashing inferior competition & only moonlighted as a fighter. He had a win over Bert Cooper & a great fight with Rahman. Wlad had disposed of much better fighters going into the Sanders fight. Botha, Jefferson, shufford, mccline, old mercer were all rated higher than Sanders. The only reason you or anyone here knows Sanders name is because he crushed Wlad. Sanders had no other notable wins in his career. Sanders was nothing more than a journeyman who had a great night. You could compare Joey Abell to Sanders. A big punching southpaw who gasses in 4 rounds.

Kirk Johnson was a fat slob when he fought Vitali. Coming off a torn pec & a human rights issue in Nova Scotia. Johnson was a shell of his former self. Why wouldn't he seek another Tyson fight if that was the case? The pay would be way bigger than the Vitali fight & less risk. TKO6 is the only result that will be remembered...

You got that right! I can't think of another fighter who ever got so much from a loss. 0-2 vs the best fighters he ever fought. It doesn't matter what anyone says. He was 0-2 against his best competition. Vitali was to fight cedric boswell on the Johnson/lewis undercard. Lennox barely trained for Johnson so to give Vitali a voluntary shot 15 days from fight night says to me that lennox took vitali very lightly.
