Why doesn't the African American crowd gravitate to Ward like Mayweather?

Ward doesn't promote himself, so why would people know him? He's also one of those guys that expect people to love him while he doesn't care about the entertainment value he brings.

Golovkin bows to all sides of the arena after a bout, showing he understands this is a gladiator sport. You're taking the fun out of it if you don't plan to fight and hurt the opponent.

He was actually building an audience before his inactivity. Since his comeback for the most part he's been super boring just jabbing guys occasionally, spending the rest of the time trying to look cool.

Andre Ward isn't black, he's mixed. He's a mulatto. Instead of asking us African Americans why we don't gravitate to him, why don't you ask whites why they don't gravitate towards him? Why don't you ask the Irish why they don't gravitate towards him? He's just as much white/Irish as he is black.

        Floyd understands branding yourself.

        Ward don't.

Ward is black and he's proud to be black.

If you knew anything about the 1 drop rule, you'd know Ward was black as well.

If Ward was alive during Jim Crow, he'd be at the back of the bus.

To answer OP's question, Mayweather didn't get all of his money from the African American fans. Mayweather got his $$$ from white and mexican fans who hated Floyd and wanted to see him lose.

The rest, a small percentage of white, black and mexican boxing fans actually bought Floyd's fight because they support him.

Many boxing fans are neutral against Ward and are not sure if they want to support him or want him to lose.

To be honest, many African American fans simply don't support boxing anymore

And to answer the real intent behind the start of this thread, yes there are a large percentage of African American fans that are attracted to coonery. It's bullschit that's the way it is, but that's the way it is.

              Can't argue with that.

                Can't argue with that either.

Ward always states that he's a biracial child...he does say that he's mixed. You need two black parents to be black. That's no disrespect to him because he's a cool dude. He's just not black, he's half-black. I'm simply stating a fact

I don't give a **** about the 1 drop rule. The 1 drop rule was a racist policy implemented by southern whites that considered anyone with any amount of black lineage as tainted and inferior. Why would I advocate the continuance of that kind of thinking?

You don't need two black parents to be black. Black is black and white is white.

If you look at Ward's hair, his skin complexion and overall style and how he carries himself, he relates more with his African American history.

Again, Ward is black. When he fills out a questionnaire do you think he checks the box that says white?

If he were alive during Jim Crow, do you think he would sit in the front of the bus?

Just because he admits that he has a white father, doesn't mean that he considers himself white.

Listen to him talk, watch how he carries himself. Ward is what you would call a light skin brother. He's black. TS doesn't ask any Irish or European posters why they don't relate to Ward because the man is black and everyone knows it.

Being black is about having soul and relating/identifying with a culture.

Or do you think that all African Americans in the US are full 100% black with a perfect lineage of Afro history? Of course not, AA ancestors were raped by white slaveholders and had children in result.

Going by your definition, not one African American in the US is black because there's not one African American that isn't mixed with some form of European somewhere in their history.

Again, being black has more to do with identifying/relating with the African American culture more than having a biological father.

Regarding the one drop rule, I'm not asking you to continue that way of thinking. I'm simply saying that by US standards, Ward is black. Based off the eye view of his skin complexion, Ward is black. If you ask Andre Ward himself, he's black.
