As for Povetkin, I'm withholding judgement until all the research is adequately finished on Meldonium. It's my understanding the drug's half-life is out of the system soon, but no one knows yet how long it takes for it to be completely gone from the system, or for that matter how it reacts to different people's systems. And I still don't know why they would ban a drug when they don't have all the info in from it. To me that's irresponsible. I'm all for clean fighters, but IMO the way this particular incident went down is just wacko.
Completely agree with your statement. One of the few folks with common sense.

I would agree, but for one caveat. Article states that he submitted 3 clean samples in early April. If WADA's testing methods did not change, then Povetkin must have taken it sometime in April.

The thing that sucks is that not only was this the best fight of 1st half 2016, but I don't think Povetkin legitimately cheated or knew what he was doing. If the concentration was really 70 nanograms, it's so low that I don't think he took it knowingly. The more likely scenario is some idiot on his team re-used an old water bottle or something ****** like that.

This drug has plenty of legal alternatives that are just as good. Why would he take a tiny amount of an illegal drug when he can take a normal dose of a legal one? In any case, RIP fight.

The level of irrational hate towards Deontay Wilder is at a fever pitch - just take this dip**** for instance.

How is Wilder a "coward?" He was able, clean and ready to fight this Sat. It was Povetkin that ****ed it up. And furthermore, even if Wilder was willing to face Povetkin, it was the WBC that pulled the plug on this fight.

I can't believe there are so many people making excuses for Povetkin cheating. If this was the other way around there would be a lot more outrage. The title of this article buries the real meat of the story. You have to wait until almost to the third paragraph to find out why the fight was postponed and the only pictures are Wilder's. Go figure...

People wanted Wilder to be a cheating, fraudulent champ SO BAD but then the guy they said he would never dare fight, let alone in Russia, fails his drug test.
