Comments Thread For: Povetkin's Promoter: Trace of Meldonium Was Just 70 Nanograms

It really comes down to how long it takes to get out of your system. Does Povetkin have traces because of what he did six months ago? Or does he have traces because he was trying to cover up the fact that he's still using?
What's really being overlooked here is that it's clear Povetkin regularly uses PEDs. Them admitting to using this drug before tells us all we need to know. Lord knows what else he took--or is taking.Comment

Nearly all PEDs were legal before they were illegal. To put it another way, testers don't know because users hide it. Once they do, then they make a determination. Like BALCO. It was legal. Until agencies discovered what they were really using and what they were using it for. So to your point...yes, you're right. It's not black and white at all though.Comment

So why did he fail the test then if the amount was supposedly below threshfold. I'm no Wilder cheerleader but this is shady stuff.
and look at all the posters saying the fight needs to go on still. We need an official statement from the testing agency not Povetkin's promoter.Comment

That has been my mentality throughout this whole saga.Comment

do people realize that this isn't good for Povetkin? Especially if this really has an effect on the fight publicly or worse a postponement or the belt is no longer on the line, it effects Showtime viewers no matter how anyone looks at it. And with commentary giving the facts, how will casual boxing fans react towards Povetkin. Povetkin and his team only ended up hurting his career moreComment

If the information provided in the article is accurate, then Povetkin has levels of meldonium which are below the limit set by the agency, so everything should be fine, right? What is the problem here? Why was this even blown up as a news story, specifically considering the fact that it was only outlawed in europe Jan 1st 2016. Povetkin was likely taking the drug for most of the last couple years. Of course there would be tiny trace amounts.
The fight must go on.
Having said that, Povetkins new found world shaking power is disturbing. It's more than just meldonium use we have to be wary of but then again, if he isn't testing positive, then it is what it is.Comment
