And as far this dude:

Issue a ban affecting the livelihoods of hundreds of athletes, akin to slandering them in the court of public opinion and the media, labeling them as drug users, only to later say "hmmm, maybe we'll give you a pass after all"?
If this were REALLY a serious PED, they would not back down.
Or how about this ***el from just a few days ago:

Goes on and on:

Even ***** got involved, and WADA started to choke when the Kremlin got involved:

On and on:

This is a drug that's been around and used by people for over 70 years. All of a sudden, at a point when Russian athletes are gaining traction, we see this otherwise benign drug get banned.
Now, if WADA does back down like I figure they will and take it off the ban list, guess what? They've already ruined the lives of hundreds of athletes.
It's political BS.
The fight should go on TO SPITE WADA if Wilder is still game. Boxing needs fights like Wilder/Povetkin and we can't keep letting these drug agencies play whack-a-mole with people's lives.

Not saying that they werent guilty BUT zero positive tests and 34 players were banned as a result of nothing more than circumstantial evidence.
There is a worldwide crackdown upon doping and it just so happens that the eastern bloc countries are among the most blatant abusers and have been for decades

Anyway, Wilder is in a tough position.
I have no doubt that Povetkin is a doper and the authorities really should have the balls to at least suspend him pending a full investigation
However, the fight is a week away and as they still haven't done anything, there will be all sorts of legal/reputational ramifications if he were to pull out

"Sputnik News."
Looks like these stories are a propaganda arm of the Russian sports minister, and given that dangled near every Russian athlete of any note whatsoever in any sport seems to be mainlining this stuff (wonder why that is?), he's got a lot at stake as it's obviously systematic.
WADA gave an exemption on tests BEFORE MARCH 1 because there might be residual amounts in systems from previous use. Povetkin's failed test was almost a full two months later AND after he passed three tests -- which points to use after the previous tests.
Oh, the drug was invented in 1970, so no one has been using it for 70 years since it wasn't invented that long ago. And I seriously doubt it was used for performance-enhancing reasons from the start.
Dude got caught. End of.Last edited by saintpat; 05-14-2016, 11:05 PM.
