They are sanctioning Vargas-Salido, I don't see how this would be any different.
Yea I honestly see a lot of similarities to this situation, from what we know so far anyway, & the Morales positive test vs Garcia via the Mexican beef, again, allegedly too. I mean its different, but not. There is some angle here that says the fighter isn't at fault thus its a legit "accident" so lets not f#ck up this big fight over it kinda stance. So I could definitely see this fight going forward if they can deem Povetkin to not have taken this supplement this year.
And if VADA or WADA or whoever says its cool I suspect the WBC & Wilder will follow along with whatever is decided by the "experts".
From some of the info being thrown out there, I think its pretty obvious that Povetkin used the medication after he knew it was banned or was about to be banned and shouldn't have been using it. Letters were released in September that he drug would be banned in January. If someone kept using it through January, knowing this then they are an a**hole. My GUESS is that Povetkin liked the effects of the medicine and had a doctor that advised him on how to still take it at lower doses without being detected.
Now, as far as how to handle it, I have no idea. The fight should be canceled but that screws Wilder more than anyone because he won't get paid.

WBC confirmed that positive test result was from 4/27, and that an investigation currently underway, announcement t/k. #WilderPovetkin
Its verified. Povetkin tried to cheat. I dont buy its still in his system for 8 months and he mentions he stopped when in September when emails went out.
I suspected it in him and i know Russia cheats. He got caught
Maybe this is why he wasnt ready for months and months and months
The ban only came into effect Jan 1st, so that's 4 months it would have to stay in his system if he was taking it and stopped as soon as the ban came in.
Has Povetkin said he was taking this stuff but stopped in Sept?
I'm not trying to make excuses for him, but I find it hard to believe that he would have been taking it in April when he knew it was being tested for and the tests were catching people.
You don't need to take Melodium for months though. It's not like steroids. If Povetkin was on it, it would have better for him to have fought Wilder last year when Melodium wasn't banned and wasn't even being tested for.
this drug has been taken by a lot of russian athletes during the Olympics
its actually made in Russia and very accessible
i think we all know Pov was always on the gear
I don't know about always but his body type changed post Klit bashing and his power became frightening. So something smells rotten in the state of Denmark.
