It amazes me that people on this site love to take unconfirmed numbers and justify his numbers by saying "at least Alvarez beat Floyd." Alvarez didn't beat Floyd. He has never beaten Floyd and never will in any way. Floyd sold more PPVs in one fight than Alvarez has sold or will sell in his entire career.

Taking unconfirmed numbers from one fight and using them as a comparison to unconfirmed numbers in another fight to say "he is better than Floyd" is about as ******ed as pissing on someone who is on fire and then saying, "I tried to help."

I don't think these numbers matter much in the scheme of things. Canelo is the A side and I'm sure GGG team know that. Money wise he will get the lions share, but the weight will be the big issue... 70-30 split at 160 0r more like 60-40 at a catch weight of 157-158. Team GGG will probably have to decide what's the right play...

Canelo is not Manny or Floyd in their primes getting 800-1 million PPV buys but he's the biggest star in boxing now and the winner of his fight with GGG will be THE face of boxing...

I'd assume its more to help GBP more than HBO. Fat Dan is in GBP's & TR's pocket more or less. Just like there are fanboys on forums there are fanboys who work (or are "paid" to work as fanboys) in boxing. Wacky world boxing is.

Seems you always take the highest number and the lowest number and the truth is somewhere in the middle

Going by that theory then why did he "inflate" Mayweather's PPV buys as well if he's just in GBP and TR's pocket? Because if you believe Iole that's what he did reported numbers that were inflated for both Canelo and Mayweather.

How much did he say Floyd/berto did?

Iole has just tweeted that Cotto v Canelo numbers of 900k were a lie, and that they were in the 600's.

So if Cotto v Canelo did 600k, with Cotto the main PPV seller as seen with the 66-33 split between Cotto and Canelo,....and Canelo v Khan, a fight that wasn't even demanded by boxing fans sold 460k, excluding online PPV buys, that that is proof that Amir Khan has tapped the US market.

I wouldn't be surprised if HBO and SHO go at it to get Garcia v Khan II on a stacked PPV card!

Dan just wants to be the first to get a story out so he called up GBP and they gave him a figure and he ran with it without doing much research.

We don't know if that figure is accurate or not. But Jake Donovan has reported between 300-400K, Iole has reported 460K, and GBP has reported slightly less than 600K. Until HBO comes out and releases the numbers we wont know. But I'd say that Iole is probably the more accurate of the two.

I subscribed to boxnation again for this fight, but I doubt many would. Simply put, Sky is the best channel for boxing in terms of single events.

Khan simply isn't as hot since going to the US and 3 or 4 AM fights are tough to get people to watch.

Also 1 quick question Iole must only talking about Cable/Direct TV/ect buys because Golden Boy also offered the fight via online stream through Ring TV Live. I know this because I was on vacation in another country and that's how I bought the fight. Fight had Doug Fischer and Lennox Lewis doing the play by play not HBO announcers and had nothing to do with Cable. So if he's not plugged into Golden Boy or speaking with them for his numbers then he's excluded 10s if not a hundred k PPV buys that were directly from Golden Boy. Anybody who bought the stream like I did can't be included in this 460K figure.
