Iole: Khanelo did 460k

You decide who's numbers you want to believe for Floyd/Berto Dan Rafael or Iole. Either way both guys had Canelo/Khan higher then the numbers they each said Floyd/Berto did. Iole number for both Canelo/Khan and Floyd/Berto seem a little low while Dan had slightly higher numbers for both Canelo/Khan and Floyd/Berto. Probably the truth is somewhere in the middle.
But it's becoming clear that Glaser doesn't deserve to be in the conversation.Last edited by bigdunny1; 05-12-2016, 03:33 PM.Comment

Why would ESPN inflate to help HBO?I think Iole's number makes the most sense. He actually lists numbers that can be verified. Glaser has no credibility, neither does ODH. Dan will post whatever numbers ESPN tells him and I'm sure they will always inflate to help HBO.
460k for a garbage mismatch isn't bad at all, about 100k less than Floyd/Berto and right around Manny/Bradley 3. I wonder how many they did in theatres?
And this same source said Floyd-Berto did 400,000 buys so less than Canelo-Khan...Comment

Here's what Iole said
Floyd Mayweather's Sept. 12 bout with Andre Berto at the MGM Grand Garden sold roughly 400,000 pay-per-view units, a source told Yahoo Sports. That number, the source said, includes about 145,000 sales from DirecTV, which is almost always the first distributor to report a figure.
Another source close to the promotion of the fight said the figure was higher and estimated it between 500,000 and 550,000.
In any event, the result will be the lowest figure since Mayweather sold 325,000 while fighting Carlos Baldomir on HBO Pay-Per-View in 2006.Comment

Seems more substantiated than the Rafeal/Pugmire numbers that were from GBP, but we'll see.The @Canelo @AmirKingKhan PPV did 460k buys, including 145k on Direct & 230k on cable. Story to come soon.

@Lenstation @Canelo @amirkingkhan This is US. I have heard the UK sales of this fight did poorly but can not confirm that.

That's the number Dan Rafael reported for the Floyd/Berto fight.

So if you believe Dan then Floyd/Berto did around 500k while Canelo/Khan did just under 600k. If you believe Iole then Floyd/Berto did 400k and Canelo/Khan did 460k. Either way Canelo/Khan sold more then Floyd/Berto.Comment

Its clear people are going to believe who they want to believe. Canelo haters are going to jump on the lowest number, his supporters on the higher end.
Even if we say it was 500k it was a succesful show and Canelo is still the A side in negotiations.
What would GGG/Khan have done? GGG/Lara, GGG/Angulo? All would have done worse than Canelo did with those opponents. Hell if GGG fought any of these 3 its on HBO not PPV in the first place.Comment

Yup, far cry from the $30 dollar PPVs in the 90's, to the $70 PPVs today. People just a.) don't give a **** enough about boxing to pay that. B.) Wouldn't pay that if they did give a **** about boxing.
That's just how it is. It's too ****ing expensive, and the sport is already a cult sport these days, to begin with.
No one is doing Tyson, Floyd, Manny # PPVs and I don't see that every coming back anytime soon.Comment
