People act ignorant like it only works one way, but will flounder depending which fighter they are defending. If we're looking for the truth, it's a negotiation strategy that does affect the fighters and there's merits to both angles.
Not, if you have a belt in a certain class and start making your own weight stipulations, that's another issue entirely.

Once you have a belt you need to defend it at the stated weight or you're holding everyone else back.
Canelo is an extreme case though. He's invented a new form of catchweight. Usually a catchweight is an agreement between two fighters in different divisions to meet half way.
Canelo has ****d that concept and just decided the lightest weight he can cut to is a new weight division. Whether you're his middleweight mandatory or a skinny welterweight, you will fight at the arbitrary division he invented. Period.
I think for the first time in my life I've become more interested in MMA than boxing. 175/200/HW are all fun but everything below that in boxing is a total joke. Zero suspense. Everything takes 8 years to sign, then when it finally happens the "A-side" details unravel and it's pretty obvious one guy has a 90% chance of winning to the point that even if it isn't fixed, it might as well be.

There is 1 thing Canelo can do to make it all go away but then he wouldn't be able to pretend he's MW champ lol

Only Oscar and Bhop have the clear vision on how to proceed with revenue and profits. They are literally the mafia kings of boxing, and they easily come off as intimidating for any serious discussion considering their legendary circumstances. It's not like Loeffler or others can dictate to Oscar or Bhop. hell no. Loeffler can only respect their demands..
Now regarding the weights. I give the Canelo the pass for Khan. I think Khan needs the catchweight regardless. I think Canelo is now ready to transition from the non-title 155 bouts up until Cotto. After Khan. I EXPECT Alvarez to finally fight at the 160 limit. The whole ''makes up his own class'' is just girl gossip people don't even know what they are talking about. People seem to forget that Garcia did somewhat of the same thing before 147.
Lastly, if we could all agree on common sense and ***ing honesty, the fact that Lil'G wanted to fight Floyd at 154 - his words - or saying that 154-168 is easy LITERALLY came back to bite him with all his fans finding every excuse to defend his reasons. Pusssie talk man. I hate it.
It's clear and cut. If Lil'G can do it, then I'd expect him to have some acknowledgement of his previous words and not be a pusssie himself saying that he only fights at 160. geeeez..
Fact is Lil'G can't beat Alvarez at 155. Looking forward for Alvarez to beat Lil'G at 160 too because when that happens everybody here will start to fear for Lil'Gs 0 and stock value

Canelo is a coward for his actions nothing can excuse it, you fight the champions of your division and you fight the guys people want you to fight you're funded by the guys who go to watch you.
It's about time frauds like Canelo get their comeuppance.

Okay doke then, I think the sheer fact Cotto didn't want to fight GGG on ANY terms and that now Canelo doesn't either it speaks volumes about how great GGG really is.

Therefore, people will still say that Lil'G never came to Alvarez's demands if supposedly 154-168 was easy! All on tape forever!
But don'T worry, the voluntary defense to make Money off Khan will end soon entitled to a new title or lineal holder is justified. The mandatory everyone is crying about is yet to come or be announced.

My "comfortable" weight is around 175, but I know my peak performance is going to be around 170-ish. I could likely go as low as 160, but any lower and I'd start risking health.
In boxing, when these guys take these fights it's because of the money. They think they can make these weights no problem, and usually do, but then don't perform at peak.
