Not sure what they were thinking going for that belt. Fighters love belts but it was clear they weren't ready to defend vs mando

I think they would defend it against anyone not GGG. If wade was the Mando do you think they would be hesitant?

Right, they'd already have grown into 160 if Wade was his mando. But they knew what was awaiting them when they won that belt. Should have made it a non title fight, less prestige but a better purse split vs Cotto

          • Bernard only moved up when he was 41 years old.
          • He only moved up because he lost all his titles to Jermaine Taylor.
          • Kovalev has 2 fights scheduled and is not available until next year.

What the heck is wrong with Hopkins?

I'm just asking GGG fans to acknowledge that GGG is "business man" just like Floyd, Cotto, and Canelo! It's just that those 3 are consistently in big money fights, and GGG, well not so much!

A business decision to avoid Ward? He made an OFFER TO FIGHT Ward. Ward made the business decision to offer a counter of a year later, only to vacate and move up a division. Gennady said lets fight this fall, Andre said lets fight next year. It shouldn't be hard to figure out who didnt really want a fight.

Loeffler himself said they rejected Ward's 50/50 offer, and they wanted a catch-weight @ 164 for Ward, but not Chavez Jr. or Froch. Loeffler is GGG's promoter! That's a fact!

Read the whole article bud. Loeffler said he rejected the 50-50 aspect fro a year later and rightly so. How do you agree to 50-50 with someone who has only fought twice in almost 3 years? At the same time, Loefflers words were something along the lines of We'll be willing to entertain a fight in early 2017 if Andre can still make weight. No one knows what weight Ward will be fighting at. Or something like that, its not verbatim.

Bottom line is this. Gennady wamted to fight in fall of 2015, Ward wanted to wait a year amd have tune ups. All the deflection in the world about Froch or Chavez does not change this fact... And thats a FACT...

GGG is the right height and build for the MW division, BHOP was dead thin for a MW. He looked malnourished to me, a move to LHW was not only natural but also beneficial for his body considering his age at that time.

When Hopkins moved up to fight Tarver, he worked with Mackie Shilstone to build his body up in a way to never move back down to 160 lbs.

After Hopkins beat Trinidad, he was unable to to come to terms with Roy Jones for the rematch. Roy agreed to move down from 175lbs to 168lbs, but Nard refused 40-60 split and insisted on 50-50.
