Boxing has always been the top dog of combat sports in America........until now. The UFC has revamped its production and become a marketing powerhouse. Does it have many problems? Sure it does. It is still growing and that happens. I really believe that the UFC will surpass boxing as the #1 combat sport in America.

Boxing has been dying for quite a while. With almost no charisma and a **** cast of heavyweights, it really needs a dramatic makeover. What happened to the golden days? I personally love both, but enjoy watching a UFC (Mixed Martial Arts) event more. They are more entertaining and if you understand the ground game it can be quite amazing what some of those guys can do.

I started off training as a grappler (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) and picked up boxing so that I could fight MMA. I have fallen in love with boxing much more than I thought I would and actually just had my first boxing match last week. It was awesome. Remember that boxing is a science in itself, but is also a very big part of MMA.

The reason many MMA guys bash boxing is because MMA was in the shadow of boxing for a long time. The MMA guys felt the need to talk **** on boxing to prove their worth. I think this has actully helped MMA a bit. Proving that these guys can kick boxers asses with ease makes them "legit" in many peoples eyes. It has been proven time and time again that a decent grappler can takedown the best of boxers with ease and do as they wish to them. This is not a knock on boxing, it is just a fact that boxers don't train to fight on the ground and are like fish out of water when they go there.

I personally believe that to be a good and complete fighter you should know the ground game and the stand up. You can emphasize what ever you like but should at least be familiar with the other. I don't think the boxing bashing is necessary anymore, as the UFC (MMA) has established itself as the fastest growing sport in America. We have yet to see a world class boxer in MMA due to money issues, but I think if we did and he learned the ground game he would do VERY well. What do you guys think?

Boxings a soap oprea now, and everythings gone to pay per view. Its more like "prize fighting" or a **** fight, than an actual sport. Only people who have money, or nothing esle to do are giving boxing a time of day today.
