Comments Thread For: Hearn: Brook vs. Vargas Possible, Peterson Still in The Running

Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport is hard at work in securing a big opponent for the summer return of IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (36-0, 25KOs).

No mention of Errol at all? What's wrong, Eddie?

He's already said multiple times that he reached out to Al Haymon about that fight and they don't want it just yet

I think Vargas eats too much leather to trouble Brook however Peterson imo is a good fight. He can be slick when he wants but also has the ability to make it a dog fight like Carson Jones did so it could be very interesting. I'd favour Brook to decision both though.

Erroll is high risk low reward versus Vargs/Peterson. Eddie has already said that they will fight Spence when the mandatory comes around. No point blowing a voluntary on him and then having to fight an IBF mandatory dust bin driver 6 months later.

If he gets Vargas and beats him though i can see them going for another unification versus Garcia or dropping the IBF.

He mentioned Spence immediately after the fight with Algieri.

"No way would their team put him in that fight just yet. We would take that fight in the UK or US and if they are serious, they have my number."

You want him to mention Spence in every interview he does?

Vargas is probably top of the list for both Brook and Garcia. If Brook doesn't get him then probably Peterson is next.

Source of Hearn saying he reached out to Haymon and Haymon responding with anything in the stratosphere of "they dont want it yet"?

Closest thing he ever said to that was that HE doesn't think Errol is ready. Spence himself has gone as far as to say he'd fight Brook in England...

I'd like him to give us an update as to where Errol Spence is in the conversation. You his lawyer? lol

I've been bashing this team Hearn and Brook, but not this time. Team Spence obviously doesn't want it yet. Which is funny when you think about Spence calling out Brook just weeks ago, even willing to go to the UK. Turns out that he's just blowing up smoke.
