why won't Canelo meet Golovkin at a Catchweight....

Why would you think that? Not trying to play favourites but both sides have issued firm statements, GGG for 160, Canelo for 155. Why would you believe one will move and the other won't?
If it is made - and I don't think it will be (this year at least) - I expect 157. IMO everything that has been said so far is posturing. Neither side is willing to give up negotiating advantages this early.Comment

1) lol @ betting forum "points". Thanks, but I've never done it, don't see the point. If you want to bump this later to say whether I was wrong or right in my simple guess, go for it.
2) How are we supposed to know what they're doing in terms of negotiations? This forum is full of people saying team ggg does one thing and other people saying they do another.
Personally, I'm not emotionally invested in this. I'm just taking a guess based on what I've seen from each side. I don't think ggg's side will offer nor accept 157. They've already said multiple times they won't.Comment

Because Oscar is a negotiator. He is all about making deals and, at the end of the day, wants the big money deals. K2 is more about keeping their guy on a safe track. They look at the long term/big picture. That's why Golovkin isn't taking matches like Ward and Lara. They would rather keep him generating good numbers on hbo several times a year. They're not ********.Why would you think that? Not trying to play favourites but both sides have issued firm statements, GGG for 160, Canelo for 155. Doesn't make one fighter better than the other, it's just about their management.Comment

Because Golovkin's camp seems to be deathly afraid of taking Golovkin's well-worn weight cutting routine even down a single pound further, let alone three pounds.
Alvarez is more than happy and comfortable getting down to 155; Golovkin going below 159 has everyone in his camp on alert.

I don't agree. But we'll see I guess. You really think K2 aren't about the 'big money deals'? They're playing the same risk / reward game as everyone else IMO.Because Oscar is a negotiator. They aren't gamblers like Oscar. It's the perspective. They are businessmen. Oscar is a fighter and doesn't think as much of a loss. K2 is about big money, but in the long-term investment (because that's why they're in this) and Oscar sees it as a fighter does. Oscar has enough business sense to draw this out as long as he can but no way is he going to let it slip away. His personality type won't let him.
Understand, that doesn't mean one side is more respectable. Too many people want to see this as good guys vs bad guys, heroes vs crooks. That's childish and the negotiations of the mgt should not reflect on the fighters. The fighters hire pros to do this work for them and people can't seem to understand that.Comment

I just wanted some cheap points, that's all. Obviously they won't offer 157 and you won't bet on it.1) lol @ betting forum "points". Thanks, but I've never done it, don't see the point. If you want to bump this later to say whether I was wrong or right in my simple guess, go for it.

Yeah I share the same view on this part. The childish mudslinging that goes on around here is beyond ******.They aren't gamblers like Oscar. It's the perspective. They are businessmen. But I'm not still not sure I agree on your conclusions vis-a-vis Oscar and K2, though I can see where you're coming from given the matchmaking of the two fighters in recent years.
Hmmm. I'll give it some thought, but I'm still pretty sure GGG would go to 157 - they offered that to Rosado incidentally, though the surrounding circumstances were obviously different.Comment
