IBF super middleweight champion James DeGale (22-1, 14KOs) had some choice words for promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport. The first British Olympic gold medal winner to capture a world title is defending his belt for the second time on Saturday night in Washington, DC against Rogelio Medina (36-6) of Mexico. The fight will be televised on Showtime.

Respect to De Gale for fighting away and making his name outside the U.K/Sky Sports circus. He'll be a better fighter in the long run and is already known to a lot of U.S fans. If he keeps this up he'll get a big fight in the U.K and the U.S whenever he chooses

Someone should show DeGale the W&R lawsuit.

"Oh hey Eddie, all that talk was just to build up some hype about us. No hard feelings, your my man!"

Strange they never had a signed contract.

Would've be good to see DeGale get a bit more of a UK following since he became champ but his planned career path is Medina, then Jack and then Stevenson so there's not much point in staying with Hearn.

Eddie Hearn didn't have a signed contract with De Gale?, this beggars belief. You'd have thought a promoter that helped a Gold Medal winner achieve a World Title in the professional ranks would be a little more formal.

Why is it that only Haymon seems to take care of his fighters?

To be fair to Eddie he took DeGale away from fighting at Bristol leisure centre to 3 months later fighting a final eliminator as chief support at Wembley stadium for the biggest British fight in years.

That performance against Gonzales really put DeGale back on the map and it was Matchroom that gave him that opportunity.

It's been fairly obvious there's been a problem with these 2 for a while.

DeGale has been disappointed that Hearn hasn't been able to land him big fights in the UK. I wonder if Brook would feel the same way if he can't get a top opponent anytime soon.
