He puts on **** fights. The best aren't usually fighting the best. It's all good keeping the fighters happy in terms of money but that is at the cost of the fans. You can't sustain what he's doing by not giving the fans top matchups.

nah the promoters invest the money to market the fighters and make them into stars. if the promoters don't have an interest this will all fail as it is doing now

No one that owns or runs a "hedgefund" gives away money w/o consequences. They saw a business plan, they invested in it, and they expect returns. However it seems that part of the business plan, is that fighters be paid well, and treated fairly, like other professional sports. Why do we accept that boxers (see Chris Algieri) constantly get swindled by promoters?

We don't accept it but Haymon's original plan (not sure if it has changed) was to overpay the fighters so that all the top talent would sign with him. And after killing off or marginalizing his main rivals, have a UFC-style franchise known as PBC.

And the advantage of having a monopoly is that there is no other place your employees can realistically go, which is why UFC gets away with being cheap SOBs.

There's a bunch of fools up in here thinkin Al Haymon's big purses is because he's "being fair to his fighters" like he could be making more money but is just choosing not to. LOL You don't get as rich as Al Haymon is without being a hardnosed businessman and a shrewd negotiator. The man isn't paying out money just to be "fair" he's got a plan in mind. And if he ever succeeds in putting his rivals out of business, you'll see that plan is going to involve cutting labor costs (i.e., fighter pay)

Well said! Shouldn't the counterpunch from other promoters, be to pay their fighters better, so they don't run to Haymon? It's almost as if promoters are saying that they can't make money, and treat their fighters fairly.
