Yea, and I wonder if it's mostly an internet/anonymity thing that brings it out. I've never talked to a boxing fan in real life who expressed true hatred toward any boxer. There's a general respect for people who get to that level and even though we criticize them, we don't think of them as a joke, coward, etc, not in any real-life convo I've had.

I have to remind myself to step back and not get baited into thinking like these agro forum guys because it's just not me. The most embarrassing thing for me on here is when I find myself saying something hateful about a boxer because I was responding to some cult-minded freak who I should have ignored.

You're crazy about a fighter's popularity. Same shit.

I get it, GGG is your guy and you're upset that he avoided Ward and refuses to go down for Canelo. But that's for him to figure out, stay behind your fighter no matter how much of an asshat he makes you guys look.

Lil G fans are the biggest flip-floppers i've ever seen, even more so than Pac turds.

You know what I think it is? There are more level-headed realistic fans out there, no doubt. But these fanatics are so damn vocal about their hate for one fighter and their love for another one. So much spam goes into the propaganda that it drowns out the intelligent debate from people who don't really have the time or energy to spam on the same subject 24/7

I think everyone knows he isn't a big name.

The fact is boxing isn't even a mainstream sport anyway. Very, very few people crossover into the mainstream. The average man on the street wouldn't know who Golovkin, Ward, Kovalev etc. are, but they are all big names within the boxing world.

Even here in the UK, boxing has become a lot more popular but that's because casual fans are following guys like Joshua. One of the biggest fights here this year was Carl Frampton v Quigg, but your average man on the street has probably never heard of them. It's just the way it is. Boxing is just in a different place now.

So this thread might be about Ward, but you could apply that to almost every fighter in boxing. You could probably count on one hand which boxers from this era are really known by people who don't really follow the sport. And the 2 main ones are "retired" now...

Only thing I'm crazy for is good fights. If I was crazy about his popularity, go to my post history and show me posts outside of this thread. Ty

Na. Floyd stans are up there with Pac n Cotto's fanbase. Canelo's is soon to join up.

Can you find me an example where I flipped flopped with GGG please?

Meh, did somebody force Golovkin to have a 350 fight amateur career and turn pro at 24?

Golovkin's career still is an open book. He can still get some legacy defining fights, but I think the window is closing somewhat.

I like Golovkin, quite a bit actually. But just passing the eyeball test and the "chicks dig the long ball" KO's against overmatched opponents isn't cutting it anymore. Not at 34.

                    Hopefully that changes soon.
