If unification is his goal, he's done the best he can with the lousy cards he's bean dealt. I have a feeling this will resolve in a month and we can move on. I agree, he needs bigger fights and better comp. He seems as frustrated with the situation as the true fans of the sport are. The Wade fight should've never happened. On the one hand the IBF should be commended for enforcing the mandatories...in an ideal world it's what they should exist for...so no one fighter become bigger than the sport and guys who deserve a shot get a shot. On the other hand, the IBF should be criticized -- Wade was in way over his head. As someone who's followed GGG since before he came to the states, it's frustrating to witness the arc of his career. If he were 5 years younger it'd be different. Consequently, part of me has grown impatient and wishes he would abandon the belt quest, just tell his team to shut up, and start giving interviews in Russian. Maybe take a cue from his pal Kovalev.Last edited by Reloaded; 04-28-2016, 07:52 PM.

I'd expect Wade to be the last opponent of his caliber. We can debate the resume as it stands now all we want, but GGG has 3 or 4 good years left and those will be the ones that define his legacy. It needs to start happening now. If he wants the belts take them now and move on. I can accept a stay busy fight here and there if he's still fighting 3 or 4 times a year, but he's got to start collecting belts or scalps that are worth something. I'm not asking him to cave completely to other fighter's demands but he will likely have to travel out of his comfort zone to get the guys who bring the name and/or the money. I believe he knows this.

Lara's had plenty of time and opportunity to force a GGG fight. He's one of the most overrated fighters in boxing. Go ahead and give me your pitch to GGG to take the Lara fight or even sign the lousy contract Ward offered. I'm listening...

You're saying the guy needs to officially change weight classes and go through hoops for 1 (one) fight. You just PROVED MY POINT that it's an ordeal for him. The lengths you guys go to in order to defend your princess. Wow.
Let me simplify this with 3 irrefutable facts; Genady has never has an opponent as good as Lara. He could take that fight and put a legit name on his resume. He has no interest in that.
That's all fine but you guys are hell bent on making it seem like every action that happens in his life is benevolent, heroic, and noble. No one else he interacts with can possibly be "right" or even seen as equal. Every decision his management team makes is with the most pure and heroic of decisions. He is without flaw. You have placed him in the role of a cult leader and you are his flock. That's just fking creepy.

In Monroe's case, my original point stands. There is no demand for GGG/Lara. Just as there was no demand for GGG/Monroe. Only difference between the two bouts would be Lara's higher purse demands and superior boxing pedigree. Lara doesn't bring a fanbase with him, similar to Monroe.

Fanboys like you always turn to businessmen whenever it's convenient.
