I just honestly thought Canelo had more pride and would chase the Golovkin fight against his team's recommendations. I understand why it's playing out like this but it does change my perception of Canelo a tiny bit.

When he fought Trout and Lara etc. it was ill-advised but I respected him a great deal for pushing things through.

But Golovkin is a true KO artist and has yet to look like anything less than a wood chipper. I still believe Canelo could potentially outbox and chin check Gennady if they fought.

Who knows though, maybe Khan is about to light him up and shock the world and completely change this whole conversation.

So did I. This is making Canelo look really bad. I like what some people said about Canelo just giving the belt to GGG and saying let's FIGHT at 157 if he truly is against 160lbs... But the ball back in GGGs corner.

If Canelo Khan does 500k PPVs, expect the WBC to NOT follow through on their "threat". Bumlovkin will have to wait...

It's in writing, they'll strip him, or they'll get sued, like they did last time.

It's been publicy stated, if it were incorrect and a lie then Canelo, his team and Goldenboy along with the WBC would state so, and you know that.

That would go against his ducking objective.

Ok, but you haven't answered the question. Have you seen said contract?

I know how the WBC operates and I can guarantee that there is some type of out in the language of whatever contract K2 claims to have.

What's to prevent the WBC from just designating Alvarez the WBC "Platinum" champion @ 160 and awarding Bumlovkin "FULL" champion status? They will have effectively not stripped Alvarez all while fulfilling their contractual obligation to Bumlovkin.

Nobody is stripping anybody. These crooks should've handled this ages ago.

Pretty sure that's what they did against Rocchiagiani. He sued them for $31 mil, they couldn't afford that and settled out of court. I'm not sure what the settlement was, but they requested a reprieve in 2011 because they couldn't afford it.

Considering that, I am sure they will be treading very, very carefully. Especially when you consider the law of contract demands equity. That is, statutory law will override oit, and provisions will be read so as to do justice to the overarching theme of the contract.
