If Canelo beats Khan, he should ask GGG to come in the ring after the fight, and hand him the WBC belt. Then he can say, "you have the belt, now do you want the fight?" GGG vs. Canelo @ 155! That belt is not that important! The WBC already looks bad for Cotto vacating it, then Canelo winning it @ 155, and now defending it @ 155 vs. a Welterweight who wasn't even a WW champion! Canelo will draw as many fans without the belt, as he will with it! Canelo is the prize, not the belt!

Tom dutifully explained that the fight was a mandatory, so it HAS to take place at the full divisional limit..... he then couldn't stop the seemingly automatic flow of bull****, so he followed that up by saying..... hey, if Canelo vacates, we would be happy to fight him at catchweight, we just want the belt.

That is obviously bull****, but some of the simple-minded fanboy's ran with it anyway..... if they thought they could beat Canelo at 155 they would just do it and stop all the negative press..... because whether you agree or not, this reflects just as badly on Hypekin as it does on Canelo.

Pretty sure that's what they did against Rocchiagiani. He sued them for $31 mil, they couldn't afford that and settled out of court. I'm not sure what the settlement was, but they requested a reprieve in 2011 because they couldn't afford it.

Considering that, I am sure they will be treading very, very carefully. Especially when you consider the law of contract demands equity. That is, statutory law will override oit, and provisions will be read so as to do justice to the overarching theme of the contract.

They also after court rulings against them had to order my Mike Tyson to vacate his belt because he would not agree to fight Lennox Lewis who was the mandatory in 1996 ...that was after Tyson had paid Lewis 4 million step aside fee so he could face Bruce seldon....so yes the WBC can be sued and they would lose because it's mandatory and there own ruling would actually be used against them...... A mandatory is a mandatory and a lot people think you can just get round it but in the end it has to be honoured
