  • I don't blame him. He shouldn't. He's the lineal Middleweight champion of the world. If Canelo wants to fight him, then he should do so at the stipulated weight limit of a 160 lb and not below.

He wants to weight drain GGG by coming down to a 155lb, to the point of dehydrating and weakening him, so he could have the advantage of being the stronger guy in the ring on fight night.

if Team Golovkin is foolish enough to agree to that term, then it's pure gamesmanship at its finest because Oscar is not going to give him more than 20 percent of the purse split.

Therefore, I wouldn't do it if I was Gennady because the purse split is not worth the risk.

    • There is no fight. I'm ready for all sides to wind down the talk because it's clearly not happening.

I hope Canelo's next fight is at 154 so I can remain a supporter. He could make a lot of decent fights at 154, but he needs to make that weight or move up to the next weight limit.

Team GGG needs to soften up to the idea of a painful pay cut to make a good fight happen. They're going to have to try to work something out with Haymon. We can't do Wade again. GGG's brand will only suffer if they take another laughably inexperienced opponent.

They need to make something happen and it isn't going to be the golden goose Canelo. Jacobs, BJS, Quillin, Eubank Jr, Lara... Figure it out.

Nah, Canelo is the lineal champ.

" lineal champ " is the most worthless/pointless title in boxing.

It may mean that you are the best guy in your division, or it may not..... it often indicates that you are a contender who could be..... just like half-a-dozen other guys.

If Golovkin does not negotiate with Canelo, he will not get that fight.

        Those guys are b1tches man......

        1) Team Bull**** have stated for years that they can beat Mayweather, and immediately following the Lemieux fight Sanchez again stated that they can beat anyone at 154.

        2) Tom Loeffler ADMITTED that Canelo/Cotto are smaller than Gennady

        3) They pulled a catchweight on Ward

And yet despite those 3 facts, they won't even negotiate with Canelo.

That is bull****, they clearly don't want that fight..... which is fkn staggering really.

The only conclusion that I can come to is that they don't think that Golovkin can beat Canelo at 155..... in fact, I'm sure of it.

You are right and I couldn't have agreed with you more. One thing I can say is that Golovkin cannot afford a loss at this juncture or stage of his career, because if he does his career will be over and he is going to find a very difficult time in latching onto the casual fans.

He'll become a very insignificant and forgotten man, because he lacks the huge fan base and loyal following of Saul Canelo Alvarez. Therefore, his main objective is to continue to win, if he has any aspirations of ever becoming a household name in the States and by remaining relevant among the boxing circles and in hopes of parlaying that popularity with main****** boxing.

Because let's face it. His first PPV event, garnered only 97,000 Pay Per Views buys and didn't come across the well with the casual fan. He'll never become a crossover main****** star with those kind of numbers.
