Star boxing is pretty well known. They have many fighters (like Boo Boo). You just cannot walk and find another promoter.

The Problem is some promoters out there are basically using shady practices.

Chris is 100% right. People who disagree don't know **** about boxing or boxing contracts. Standard is 75-25. Degaurdia is a SMALL time piece of **** and without fighters like Chris he wouldn't be in business. cheating/lying/ manipulating good fighters is how he makes a living. Bj Flores

i think you guys are misunderstanding why algieri is so angry.

this just seems like a mistake by algieri. 50-50 is definitely not a fair split but it seems he didnt take the time to actually figure out how much the purse was. he's not complaining that he only got 325k, he's complaining that he didnt realize the actual purse was 650k and that the promoter got the same as him. judging by his 70-30 expectation he must have thought the purse was around 475k and if he had gotten 325k while the promoter got 150k he would have been fine with that.

in this case it's hard to tell what happened here since there are no details of the negotiations. if the promoter blatantly lied about the purse size then that's definitely BS. but if he said he was fine with 325k and didnt ask about anything else it's kinda ****** to complain about it afterwards. he had his lawyer there so i'm not sure why he didnt figure all of this out before accepting the fight. i know you guys are saying his lawyer was in on it but there's absolutely no proof of that.

that being said i agree 50/50 is not a good split and is total BS. but if chris agreed to a flat purse of 325k you can't really complain afterwards. it's like when you're in a job interview and you accept a salary lower than what you could have actually gotten. that's kind of your own fault. granted his job is much more dangerous than any of ours but he gets paid more too so he should have done a better job at negotiating.

also, this seems to be the first issue that's ever come up between him and his promoter. if his promoter is as bad as everyone says, he would have ripped algieri off with the pacquiao fight as that's way more lucrative but i didnt hear algieri complain about that. i just think he screwed up the negotiations for this fight which sucks but after having so many fights he should know how to negotiate his purses by now.

Algieri made much more money than he deserves as prifessional boxer . Without his promoter he would've been just club fighter . Boxers tend to forget who makes them and brings to the sport . It's red light district sport .

Well he got paid millions for being Manny's punchbag for 12 rounds.

So he can't really complain that much...

If it was based on the beating he took he should have earned millions.

that guy said algieri should be appreciative. .thats boxing for u, it's corrupt and cutthroat. promoter never has to take a punch and is telling a fight to shut up and be happy with his take. algieri has every right to complain ,fans dont pay to see the promoter.
