Algieri has done so much for a guy with 0 amateur exp in such a less period of time.

He should quit boxing and start taking some grappling classes and eventually switch to MMA and aim to win a World title in his 3rd combat sport. He already has which imo the hardest one to win, boxing.

The money's gone. I'm not talking about that.

I'm talking about the promoter's rationale of "I did X,Y,Z for you before, so that means forget the money I take today because you should be grateful for what I've done for you in the past".

I don't agree with that and I don't think the promoter should bring it up. Especially since he was well compensated for his work in the past.

dude u wasted my time checking this..the fight was on pbc therefore if they grossed from that single fight it matters..

i'd love to know how much the promoter took on the back end and how and why he got it

Wow people complaining that Algieri got more money than spence.... thats not the point (what has spence done except face fodder opposition and has he won a world title?). Im sure a guy like him wouldnt be saying things without a reason. Also he should get more than 50% as he taken on a very tough challenge. Anyway hope it gets sorted out as after that fight he needs to think hard about his next steps.

Thats pretty awful 50% to the promoter. Algieri, after taxed and paying for camp and trainer must be walking away with very little. What is surprising is this issue was not addressed before the contract was signed. Wouldnt shock me if his promoter offered his lawyer a piece of the action to gloss over the details ad convince Algieri to sign. Either way no promoter deserves 50%. Fighters are the ones putting in the risk and work, their careers can be fleeting. Promoters will always find someone else to take profit on.
