Go away Duck. We all know the truth. You wouldnt even mention Kovalev's name; trying to worm your way out with Bute & Froch when Kellerman asked years ago. Krusher Kovalev is the man #Kovalev/Ward2017 👊

Main Events came to the table with projections for the fight that were utterly unrealistic; the only way that Michel seemed to think that they could come close to getting to the amount of money that Duva was hanging the deal on, in his opinion, was if both networks pushed the fight (making up the fantasy that Duva secretly secured a venue that would bring more money to the pot than staging the fight in Montreal likely didn't sit too well either).
To here Michel tell it, Duva was talking up some massive revenue fight, yet was only willing to commit $2m-$3m, never made much sense.
The fix to this whole thing, even then, was rather simple: guarantee Adonis Stevenson/GYM ~$5m, with their upside on the event kicking in when the net revenues get over $10m.
If the fight on their terms was truly as big as they tried to make it out to be (venue outside of Montreal, only HBO carry the PPV, etc), they would've been fine with such terms.Comment

As far as I know, Stevenson drives a lot of his take from the revenues in Quebec, so I don't doubt that Stevenson's Showtime take isn't all that much off from what other featured fighters on Showtime end up with.
Beyond that, Stevenson's fight date is basically three months away. The weight's fine.Comment

Will come down to the type of business that Kovalev-Ward does, tbh; Sergey Kovalev went to Montreal and split $6m with Jean Pascal. That Montreal money left enough of an impression that Kovalev went back to Montreal and still had a basically even split with Pascal for the rematch, of a fight that he loss by stoppage.
Golovkin-Lemieux, on HBOPPV, had the two fighters splitting ~$4m.
I have no hope for Kovalev(he's letting Kathy Duva mess his business up, imo); if Ward wins the fight, GYM and RocNation will sit down, negotiate the deal points that would maximize the potential revenues (Bell Centre vs Barclays Center/MGM Resorts, HBOPPV vs SHOPPV, International TV rights, sponsors, etc).
The deal points naturally fall about 50/50 anywayComment

Hopkins wanted 75% of the money on the fight (Team Kovalev gladly gave him 75% of the money), Pascal wanted a 50/50 split on a mandatory defense (Team Kovalev was more than happy to give him 45% of the pot), and Team Kovalev refused to participate in the purse bid process that they initiated.
Get over yourself.Comment
