Another option is Stevenson fights him on HBO, the much more prestigious platform with way more boxing viewership

They used to be, but now they only have a fraction of the budget they used to have. And now Showtime/CBS are rocking, thanks to the Mayweather/Haymon deal and a few smart decisions.

i dont think either are hard to deal with..
kovalev is easy to deal with bc he is not a draw and pascal was ppv which would be kovalev's biggest purse and of course he was bside to hopkins no argument at all..

stevenson on the other hand was a victim of golden boy going back to hbo...yes bernard acted like the ibf was breathing down his neck, but the truth is the extension that he applied for was only hbo/goldenboy negotiaions...
..now with pascal..he wanted 50/50 from stevenson...he doenst have a belt and both are a draw in canada...i wouldnt have given it to him either bc he hasnt earned it with big impressive wins as of late...he was meat for either kov or stevenson tbh..

stevenson didnt have to purse hunt like kovalev and give shots based on being a champ with no money behind him..kovalev did but it did make his resume better..

in stevenson case pascal priced himself out and tried to negotiate in the media..and bhop and golden had their on little plan..and bhop got cooned and sacraficed

I think the Ward-Stevenson fight gets made, because Ward signed a 3 fight deal that ends with Kovalev. So once Ward beats Kovalev, he's free to fight where ever, if i'm not mistaken.

Main Events and GYM agreed on everything earlier this year, the only stumbling block was the broadcaster. Stevenson wouldn't fight on HBO and that was that.

If you put it like that, it seems like it's Stevenson's fault.

The reality was GYM/Showtime were willing to work with HBO to make the fight but HBO wanted full rights to the fight.

It can go both ways and one can say "Kovalev wouldn't fight on Showtime".
