Either way it's still unlikely he could beat Kovalev. GGG's power against Kovalev at 175 would probably look like Tito's did against Hopkins.

GGG/Ward could have been a very interesting fight, but Ward would have to be the favorite.

Even if GGG felt like he could take those fights, Loeffler & Sanchez would likely not want them to happen. In fact they definitely didn't want GGG/Ward to happen, that much was clear.
