Good fight. Haymon and TR will have to work together or take it to purse bid.

Funny how Spence and Ponomarev have to fight each other for the right to face Brook when the IBF's last two WW mandatories were JoJo Dan and Kevin Bizier.

Althought Kon is #10 ranked Ring WW, he is still just a rookie. He needs rugged veterans Soto Karass, Humberto Soto, Randall Bailey. A fight like Spence is too early imo.
Same could be said for Spence imo. I don't consider Algieri a better fighter than Solomon, more proven yes, more skilled? Nah.

That's right, development. Spence gets to see yet another look and another style before challenging for the belt.

It never hurts to build up a "file cabinet" of experiences prior to challenging for a world championship. That way there are less things that will surprise you.

Spence is ready and he will KO Ponomarev. Solomon can't punch to save his life and if you saw the fight Solomon was tagging Kon a lot, there was just nothing there so Kon always came back with something of his own with no respect. That won't happen with Spence, he can punch.

I'm actually disappointed at this fight and hope Bob turns it down because I rather see Pon grow a little more, he is too young and Spence is just a little more ahead than him with the eye test. Pon can look a bit sloppy at times as you saw with the Solomon fight.

I agree, I'm picking Spence to win as well, but I think they're both ready. I know Solomon isn't a puncher but he's got good skill, he beat guys like Andrade, Danny Garcia, Jessie Vargas, Mike Dallas etc in the ams, he was a big prospect a few years back. I think Ponomarev will be more defensively responsible in this fight, he can use his legs. Against Solomon I think he just didn't feel any power also Solomon would've been hard to outbox, so he was over aggressive and outworked Solomon.

I agree though, if he tries hanging in the pocket against Spence, it's man down. I don't see anyone who isn't mobile beating Spence at 147.

Right now its hard for me to pick against Spence vs anybody at 147. To me Spence has that it factor, like Terrence Crawford. He can punch he's mean in the ring and he has the fundamentals down. Plus he's a body snacther. If the guy he's faceing doesn't have enough pop to make Spence respect him its a wrap cause Spence is willing to take some shots to get his off. Hope the fight gets made to resolve this debate.

Spence vs crawford will be the biggest fight to make in about a year or 2. I have said many times in the past on this board.
