    Oscar tried to fight Winky Wright and Winky Wright turned it down.

    Margarito would have been a better example, a fight Oscar ducked.

    He also waited for Vargas to get splattered by Tito and subsequently looking like **** before fighting him.

      Winky didn't turn down anything.

      I noticed you didn't mention Vernon Forrest.

          Oh yes he did. Winky Wright was offered 6 million dollars in 2005 and he turned the fight down. Look it up.

          Forrest, I can't recall. I don't remember there ever being serious talks about that fight.

            There should have been serious talks with Forrest but they were not...for a damn good reason.

            Winky did not turn down 6 million to fight Oscar...just stop it.

              Excerpts below;

              In regards to the 50-50 split that Shaw is insisting on, Wright said he wouldn't do the fight for less (especially now, how could he?).

              As for Shaw last month turning down $6-million (plus $6 per pay-per-view buy above 600,000 homes) to fight Oscar De La Hoya ?

              "He offers everyone else $10, 15-million," Wright said, referring to the $10-million Felix Trinidad got for beating De La Hoya in 1999. "I ain't doing it."

              Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Winky Wright DID turn down 6 million dollars to fight Oscar. This is a fact.

                    Wink Wright was known for this kind thing. He priced himself out of a lot of fights not just this one.

                    He turned down Oscar, Margarito, Taylor rematch and Mayweather fights all over money. Often career pay days he turned down.

                    Shame really.

                      I can understand the oscar fight because winky beat Mosley yet Mosley made I believe 10-15M to fight oscar. But obviously winky wasn't a big draw so 6m plus ppv seems fair. Still he was a great fighter
